I laughed out loud. These are the same people who think that Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would still be republicans, yet JFK would have switched parties. Of course, in 25 years or so, they'll be calling Bush a liberal, just like they're doing with Nixon now. Republicans live in their own little fantasy land.

7. They ARE claiming FDR. |
|
I saw an interview will William Kristol, neocon and PNACer, where he claimed that one difference between the traditional conservatives like William F. Buckley and the PNACers is that the latter embrace FDR on several issues, most importantly that FDR wanted the U.S. to enter the war long before Pearl Harbor.
Up is Down, Down is Up.

12. They claim JFK sometimes, too |
|
They use his catholicism as justification, in that he would be opposed to legalized abortion. Even if that were true, he still was mostly a moderate/liberal on other issues.

13. It only follows from logic, really |
|
What the Republicans have been doing for the last 30 years is define a liberal as someone who lives in a fantasy Ivory Tower, and has to be homosexual, and has to be elitist, and has to be out of touch with anyone other than other elitist homosexuals. So when real liberals from our history are discussed, and it becomes apparent that their definition is miles off, they have to claim that whover they are talking about was really a conservative, in order to save the definition they've built. Their definition of a liberal is so unrealistic that probably only 5 people or less actually fit it.

14. Well, considering the debunking of him, it might be true |
|
That he hooked into a psychotherapy cult, launched purges that eliminated everybody who had started with him, and set up family members into different chunks of the union that is no longer a union (has not had a single labor contract in decades), that is just a big fundraising machine------it just might be true that an oligarchical strongman might be a Repuke today.
