Did I hear correctly that Judy Miller will be writing for The Atlantic?!?! |
|
Someone tell me that this is not true. The Atlantic has had some excellent Iraq/WOT articles and enlisting her journalism would suck big time.

because they were getting pretty politically mushy, IMHO. This seems perfectly in-line, to me...

5. Some really good critical articles the last few years... |
|
Fallows has written some really good pieces in The Atlantic the past few years. There have been others as well. The best ones have been on Iraq and the Middle East. For all the Bushies out there that excuse all of his mistakes, I try to get them to read these series of articles. They are eye openers about the true incompetence of the Bush Administration (one of Cheney's best tricks was to purposely exclude the most brightest people when it came to the civil side of repairing Iraq after the war was "over".)

2. I don't know, but I get the Atlantic |

and it's been drifting more and more to the right with each issue. I heard somewhere that their editor was a * clone--I cannot say whether this is true or not, just something I heard. However, they've been very good about keeping old wounds with Iran in the news. The most recent issue has a story about Desert One, the failed Carter Administration attempt to free the hostages from Iran. It was a good story, and an interesting one, but I couldn't help wondering if part of the desired effect was to have readers remember how angry they had been with Iran back in 1979-1980.
If they want to hire Judy Miller, they can save their postage and wave goodbye to my subscription.

Let's not forget.
Well, we installed the Shaw of Iran; later Iranians rebelled and took hostages; Carter tries to make a deal for hostage along with a failed attempt at rescuing them; Reagan gets installed and within minutes the hostages are released. Politics as usual it appears.
Just gotta add, we sucked up seriously to Saddam at that time.
