Who do you believe: george w. bush or Sy Hersch?

It's just that simple.

Just out of curiousity: Can anyone recall the last time Sy was significantly wrong? How about gw?

2. Who said that? Scott McClellan? So what does it mean?
Nothing.

It may be wild speculation or it may be that he was told to tell us that it was wild speculation when in fact the bombing will start in five minutes.

But don't worry. Under the unitary executive theory (derived from the President's constitutional authority as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces), if the President says it, then it isn't a lie.

4. Sorry - thought the storyline was sufficiently out there...
... for me to refer to it without comment...

Nuking Iran:

"Hersch, quoting unidentified sources, wrote that the United States is planning for a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities and that a tactical nuclear strike is an option under consideration. (Full story)"

http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/04/09/iran.iaea/

"wild speculation"

"President George W. Bush said on Monday that force is not necessarily required to thwart Tehran's nuclear ambitions and dismissed reports of plans for military strikes on Iran as "wild speculation."

http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldNews&storyID=2006-04-10T183836Z_01_N10367439_RTRUKOC_0_UK-IRAN-BUSH.xml

It's likely there are better/more complete sources out there - the above is just what I came up with in 30 seconds on google...

11. Thanks
Bush saying it doesn't mean anything either. It's not like he hasn't lied to us before, is it?

12. He didn't say "no" (!)
just called the question "wild speculation" -- They might as well have Sergeant Schultz do these press conferences.

13. Bush can't say what Sergeant Schultz said

I know nothing. Nothing.

That would be telling the truth, and Bush is incapable of doing that.

5. Is this Disinfo prepping us for a disasterous military coup?
Murtha quote - Nearly shouting according to article on his speech two or so days ago that America "would NOT be in Iran" Hersh does not mention that Murtha also said his subcommittee would/has refused to fund attack on Iran. How did Hersh miss that for his article???

"I'm with you guys on the possibility of the military doing something here.

The only thing is that the Hersch piece has a very slight whiff of disinfo to me. I was going to go through it and highlight all of the little snippets that could - just possibly - be taken either way. There were plenty. The Hitler quote sorta got me too. It's just sort of... well... um, silly. Doesn't seem to belong there. I dunno.

One thing's for sure though: if he really is getting the real scoop here then I do believe that something will have to give. The nuclear option is just absurd. It's patently f'ng absurd and I just can't see the military rolling along with it.

Unless, that is, we're all so far f'ked already that there's no saving us now.

Sorry for the language but THIS IS F'NG INSANE."

6. when the actual bosses take over
http://p216.ezboard.com/brigorousintuition

"This seems...odd.

I think that there really may be plans for a palace coup, as they seem to be laying the groundwork everywhere. Nuclear warplans are not "leaked." If this is real, it's part of the now very clearly orchestrated campaign to create a climate to support a military ouster of Bush. The idea has been floating around out there since Madsen's piece in 2004, if not before that

So, if you are an optimist, maybe you'll think that getting rid of Bush, even if done by the military and CIA in a "Fifth of May" scenario, will somehow bring about democracy.

Or, if you are like me, you'll at least be curious to know what it looks like when the actual bosses take over."

7. There is a link on ezboard Rigorous Intuition to Harper's theoretical
"What would happen in the event of a military coup?" last month with panalists from the military and government professors discussing this -- CNN question of the day in the near future "Would a military coup be a good thing for the USA?" Think about it.

9. Something to take solace in though.....
... is that Hersch also reports that a lotta military brass are ready to resign if they don't take nukes off the table of options....

10. The one question that needs
to be asked and answered is: Does a tactical nuclear attack on Iran's nuclear infrastructure remain a viable and real option - yes or no? If this question is avoided then you can assume as the vice resident maintains that all options remain on the table. They are rattling sabers but the history of this gang is that they will use them without regards to the short or long-term consequences. They are moving us to their desired state of the Apocalypse.
