"We are seeking to resolve this in a diplomatic way," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan following a series of media reports about how the United States has prepared plans for possible military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities.

McClellan described the media reports as "wild speculation" but added: "No president is taking options off the table."

Bush joined aides in playing down prospects for military action against Iran, saying, "I read the articles in the newspapers this weekend. It was just wild speculation."

4. as usual, not denying it, but suggesting its absurd to consider
By claiming it is wild speculation, he's not denying it, just saying whoever told the story is speculating.

5. So, if the truth is wild and the speculation is correct
