Berlusconi may cling on: projections!
ROME - A dramatic shift in Italian vote projections on Monday indicated Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi may defy all predictions and cling to power in both houses of parliament.

If borne out in the full count, it would be a stunning reversal of fortune for opposition leader Romano Prodi, whose centre-left Union coalition had been ahead in exit polls and early partial results.

With the picture changing by the hour, thousands of Prodi supporters who had flocked to his campaign headquarters in anticipation of a victory were forced to put celebrations on hold.

Earlier, the opposition backers had voiced both jubilation and relief at indications of an end to Berlusconi’s flamboyant five-year reign. Opposition officials, though, had been more careful.

3. Deja Vu....
Let's replace a couple of words, and see what we get:

"With the picture changing by the hour, thousands of Kerry supporters who had flocked to his Boston campaign headquarters in anticipation of a victory were forced to put celebrations on hold."

4. If there's as much proof.....
that their election was stolen as there is for our 2004 Presidential election being stolen, how do the think the Italians will react?

I'm guessing they won't be nearly as complacent as Americans were when our election got stolen.....twice!

Something smells fishy here, VERY fishy. Exit polls gave Prodi 54% of the popular vote and now Berslusconi is suddenly neck and neck with Prodi. :eyes:

Like I said, we'll see how the Italians react to a stolen election, if that proves to be the case. I'm willing to bet it will get a bit bloody.

6. "A dramatic shift...defy all predictions..."
In other words, the same ol' election BS, but this time in a foreign country.

This must be the new way of 'exporting democracy' it seems.
