Now, I understand there's a difference of opinion in a country. Some view the attack <that would be 9/11, of course> as kind of an isolated incident. I don't. I view it as a part of a strategy by a totalitarian ideologically-based group of people who have announced their intentions to spread that ideology and to attack us again. That's what they've said they're going to do, and the most dangerous -- the biggest danger facing our country is whether -- if the terrorists get a weapon of mass destruction to use.

Now, perhaps some in our country think it's a -- that's a pipe dream. I don't. I think it is a very real threat, and therefore, will spend my presidency rallying our assets, intelligence assets, military assets, financial assets, diplomatic, you know, initiatives to keep the -- keep the enemy off balance and to bring them to justice.

4. Remember in the good ole days when we voted in presidents based

on their intelligence and experience because we wanted to be reasonably sure that the man in the oval office understood there were consequences to every national decision they made that could predictably end in disaster?

Now Americans vote candidates in if they can drink a beer with them. The determining factor, it seems, is that the candidate must not be too bright or intelligent so as to make the voter feel stupid and uneducated, even if he is.

5. Idiot...

One governs well by considering the most likely results of certain actions, and by planning accordingly, not by making assumptions and not bothering to examine the potential results of those assumptions, and then denying anyone could have known those results. Plenty of people knew what the most likely results of invading Iraq would be. Plenty of people knew that it might be possible for terrrorists to strike in the U.S. (Particularly since they'd already done so at least once).

... but you can take an educated guess, based on your own experience, and the advice of unbiased experts, provided you actually listen to them and read the daily briefing papers ... Oh wait, this is you and your team we're talking about here, right? Forget it.
