I Find The D.C. Immigration Rally Truly Moving
I don't speak spanish, but there's such a great feeling manifest there. You can tell, even through the medium of TV. I don't know much about the subject of immigration, but I just don't understand why these folks can't stay here on some sort of track toward citizenship.

(And good on Sen. Kennedy, for addressing the rally.)

1. What channel is it on?
I live in DC and didn't get to go downtown (work responsibilities and such), but I am interested in the playback.

3. you can tell it is a non-issue by the way the media is covering it
With 24/7 coverage. Where were they when millions of people around the world protested the Iraq war? It was only shown on c-span for the most part.

I am glad they are protesting and am happy for them. The fact is the "11 million illegals in the US" popped up as an issue out of no where. It certainly is a diversion for the WH, repukes and the M$M from more urgent issues like... Iraq, leaks and Iran.

8. have to admit i had a bit of that response leftchick

hello by the way

i live in dc and the protest/parade all went right past my place. lots of american flags being waved. and i noticed a good number of cameramen and photographers

truly great for the people (for us for the country) and i yelled support out the window (i didnt even know this was going on today) but it brought that response from me as well
where was the coverage when hundreds of thousands of people protested the *#&*(&$*(#& war

cant have everything apparently so im glad this is getting covered but i cant help feeling the reminder of the msm ignoring the outpouring of people for war protests in multiple cities

on edit: this is definitely not "us against them" at all
were all in this together and this has been brewing forever. about time it gets coverage and maybe something good will come from it

it comes down to this for me:
just sad that fighting AGAINST the war in all its aspects gets roundly ignored
i applaud and stand with all peoples who are seeking a better and just life
protesting is one important way to put issues in the fascists face (if it gets coverage of course which im very glad this is)

9. You're wrong about it popping up out of nowhere
It's been a long simmering issue. I've been hearing rumblings for years. If it's a diversion for the WH, it's a mighty poor one. Nothing has chipped away more at bushco's hard core support. Furthermore it's splitting the party. If you believe it's manufactured by rove, then you almost have to believe that the hundreds of thousands who have rallied are in on it.

10. I don't believe I mentioned rove
at any rate I stand by my point that there are many, many more pressing issues facing this country. Immigration was far down on the list of American concerns before the M$M latched onto it like it was a missing white girl.

11. I didn't say you mentioned rove, that's why
I used the word "if". You're wrong about it not being high on the list of American concerns until the MSM started covering it heavily, and frankly I think your snide comparison of it to missing white girls, is insulting to the hundreds of thousands gathering today. It's also ironic, considering their ethnicity.

I like your false outrage, it is kind of cute. ;)

Perhaps you have missed the lateset poll numbers from Gallup about the surge in concern regarding immigration in the last two months. I won't bother to post them for you, you have a search function.

You could purchase Tyson chicken on your next trip to the grocery store or if you're feeling especially "generous" stay a couple of days at a Marriott.

6. Idaho Falls, ID
I used to live in the area and I know people from south of the border are a large section of the population. Legal and illegal alike usually wind up working either as a domestic or in the potato industry. ID is heavily repuke as well and I was pleasantly surprised to find this:

Rally Brings Hundreds To Downtown Idaho Falls
April 10, 2006

Hundreds of people turned out this morning and afternoon in Idaho Falls to rally against the immigration bill.

They are joining multiple marches around the country to protest
legislation that would make felons out people who come to this country illegally.

Some 300 to 400 people marched from the Albertson's Parking Lot on Holmes & 17th street to the Courthouse and back.

We'll have more on the rally tonight on Local News 8 at 5 & 6.

7. 5,000 marched yesterday in downtown Boise
Local law enforcement officials praised the orderliness of the demonstration. A common sign in the crowd read: "We Vote!". American flags greatly outnumbered Mexican flags. Recent pro-life demonstrations here have attracted fewer then 1,000 per event. Hopefully the State's elected politicians (about 75% Republican) will take notice of this.
