ABC "somewhat unusual" for Cheney's symptoms to result from anti-inflammat

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=1486403

<snip>

McBride said doctors determined the vice president was retaining fluid from a new anti-inflammatory medication he was taking to treat an old foot injury. The doctors prescribed new medication and Cheney left the hospital at 7:30 a.m., more than four hours after he arrived.

ABC News' Medical Editor Dr. Tim Johnson said it was "somewhat unusual" for Cheney's symptoms to result from anti-inflammatory medicine alone, although "it can happen."

CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE! Damn, we live in a fascist state where they won't even admit that our VP is sickly.

18. Hopefully it would be GW
He goes to bed a 9pm, takes breaks all day long to ride his bike, etc., and is on vacation about half the time. If left to his own devices he probably wouldn't do very much - which would be a good change.

Knowing these people.. they got the NSA spying on americans searching for a compatable donor match. If you're the VP they'll do everything they can to keep your evil life going. If you happen to be a hard working middle class person, you'll be lucky if you make it on a list.

He's been having heart trouble for more than a decade.

Wonder if the foot problem is a diabetic wound that won't heal.

we admit a lot of diabetic people in the middle of the night with infected ulcers. Why they wait until the middle of the night, I don't know, but it does happen. In Cheney's case, however, I highly doubt it would happen that way.

Isn't there something called P.A.D.? It has to do with the peripheral arteries in your legs...also has something to do with the heart.

That's not good...and although I think they can help with the pain...it doesn't get better. I think he has trouble standing for any length of time. Might NEED the cane permanently???

57. glad to hear I'm SOL
I'll remember to let my doctor know. I developed CHF almost four years ago (when I was 27 and developed viral onset CHF) and live without symptoms despite the fact that, when I was admitted to the CCU, the CHF specialists started evaluating me for a heart transplant. CHF can be controlled with diet, exercise, and drugs.

But I'll make sure to let my doctor know about your diagnosis. Perhaps people with diabetes and HIV infection can crawl under rocks, too.

81. The rate of CHF has risen
pretty dramatically especially since the introduction of statin drugs. This pretty clearly has to do with CoQ10 depletion that comes with statins. Those who use statins supplemented with CoQ10 don't have the increased likelihood.

Without the supplement a majority develop abnormality of the heart's diastolic phase which is a major cause of congestive heart failure.

Between that issue and myopathies EVERYBODY close to me who takes statin drugs takes CoQ10 because I am that good at nagging. OK, I provide them the information/studies too.

I don't know why it isn't standard advice but unless it becomes so CHF will become a much larger issue.

80. I'm a nurse too
With 20 years of trauma/ acute care hospital experience and given a set of circumstances as this particular patient having the best medical care money can buy and a team of personal physicians at his disposal...Dick Cheney would ONLY go to the hospital in the middle of the night if he were in distress.
Has very little to do with a swollen foot.
As far as admissions for swollen feet and diabetic ulcers in the middle of the night--generally you see those in the middle of the night only when the neuropathy or pain have become so severe that the patient cannot stand it any longer.

My dad used to use a cain and one of those wooden shoes.

I take "Indocin" for flare-ups. It only dulls the pain. It's most effective when taken at the first sign of attack. Other than that, it can take a day or two to work. Verrrrrry painful.

That's what I use when I have flare-ups (.6 mg tablets) and it works well, especially when you take it at the first sign of pain. It does cause diarrhea, though. But I have CHF so I can't take NSAIDs, etc.

35. Amazingly, I've read that the Old Buzzard
has had 4 heart attacks. He had his first one at age 37. It's considered young to have one at that age.

Cheney has also had quadruple bypass heart surgery. The doctors found out that Lynne has been feeding him very fattening foods, like greasy hamburgers with cheese, etc. So they doctors tried to change his eating habits. I wonder if they've had any success (?)

I've seen photos of The Evil One eating pork ribs and all kinds of crap. Plus, he really looks fat now.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Cheney has a hole in his aorta that the doctors were not able to fix. He also has a pace maker. The man's a walking disaster.

37. odd that one thing the news focuses on is his regular heart beat--of cours
e it is regular--his pacemaker kicks in if becomes irregular (as his EKG will be regualar as long as the pacemaker is working).

50. It's CHF for Christ's sake!
No question about it. Congestive Heart Failure. Is anyone expecting the White House to suddenly tell us the truth about this one? We're like the old communist China now...they'll prop up Cheney's lifeless body in front of the masses just to ensure continuity. The foot story is bullshit...another sympton of CHF. Cheney's heart, already the size of a pea, is failing. The stress of being responsible for the destruction of the United States, his big fat lard ass, his terrible type-A disposition -- the man is on his way out. Don't believe for a moment that it's anything but CHF.

He wants to be nearby so he can rule the empire from exile, but they he's so close to indictment and/or complete incapacitation that he is going to have to give it up soon.

56. Stem cell treatment is being investigated to help treat CHF.
I have absolutely zero doubt that his trip to the hospital was a bout with Congestive Heart Failure. The media calls it water retention, but that is exactly what CHF is. (Your heart doesn't function well enough to maintain circulation and your body fills up with fluid.)

My dad has been dealing with it for a while now. IF you start to retain water they usually give you a big dose of diuretic and you start to pee it out. In the later stages of CHF, you can get to a point where oral doses no longer work and you have to have IV infusion of diuretics.

Oddly enough, "Unca Dick" could possibly benefit from treatment with stem cells. They have been looking at it as a treatment option for a while now, and it is showing some very real promise.

Once I started reading about stem cell treatment for heart failure, I made the observation that maybe NOW the old white guys in the GOP might start to see the need for further research. Funny how it becomes personal and more needed when it might save your life...

I do not wish CHF on anyone--even Cheney--but I have to admit, I do hope it makes them all take a longer look at WHY stem cell research is so important.

up dead one morning. Then it'll be a big shock to everyone!

69. True
Remember that one of the first big, in-your-face lies that Bush told on television was that Cheney didn't have a heart attack right after the 2000 election. Then, when he finally had to admit that it WAS a heart attack, it was "very slight" and Cheney's prognosis was "terrific".

They are never going to tell the truth about Cheney's health until, as you say, he keels over.

It's congestive heart failure, but they are never going to use those words because it sounds bad.

without any regard for the consquences of his actions. If he's like most wealthy Repukes, he is a "manly man," a legend in his own twisted mind who is immortal.

He probably drinks to excess, eats lots of red meat and fatty foods, and tells his doctor that he is "above the laws of medicine" just as he is above the laws of the nation.

Arrogance will kill the rat bastard, just like it's killing the country..

84. What "new" anti-inflammatory drug??
As far as I know, there's nothing on the market now that has "shortness of breath" and "fluid retention" as possible side effects. How stupid do they think we are? It's his heart and it's failing. When it doesn't work efficiently the body retains fluid.

since the cox 2 inhibitors were nailed by FDA and lawyers, I know of none.

But I haven't been tuned in to the pain med pipeline in several months since changing jobs.

90. You're ALL wrong!
Here's what happened: With all the shit going down over the Abramoff scandal, Cheney hasn't had enough time lately to roam the darkened streets at midnight feeding on the blood of the living. That's all. He'll be right as rain once he's wolfed down a couple pints of O-negative and has a nice long nap in his coffin.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder
