Any news on the "western" female journalist kidnapped in Iraq |
|
several days ago? Surely there's been enough time to notify the mysterious alleged victim's family by now...?

1. I was just going to ask the same question. |
|
I did a search and didn't find anything. A little weird, isn't it?

2. Yes - the only sort of oblique reference I saw |
|
was in a post to the DKos website that mentioned the Christian Science Monitor but was not at all specific. It is very weird.

3. She isn't western, she is AMERICAN |
|
A UMASS grad, a lovely young gal, sharp as a tack, who has written some "less than pro-BushCo" pieces and has done interviews on NPR (she was quite prolific, hell, she filed the day before she was snatched) and I cannot help but feel that she would NOT approve of this AMERICAN NEWS blackout WRT her fate. Everyone in Europe knows who she is. Everyone in Asia and the Middle East knows who she is.
I know who she is. I'm not gonna buck the system here, but I think it is total bullshit.
If they toss her picture up on America's tee vee screens, people will start asking some hard questions. It'll make the Natalee Missing In Aruba shit look like a flash in the pan.

4. if everyone in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East knows... |
|
point us to a foreign news source that's naming her. I've looked and I can't find one.
And why not buck the trend? Seriously.

6. They are worried that releasing her name will get her killed. |
|
There was a discussion about this in one of the other threads here--in LBN, I think. Anyhow, The word was that the "security expert" who is advising on this said it was probably gonna make it easier to negotiate for her return if her name was not released.
Evidently, there is some compliance with that decision even here on the internet...

8. Only problem with that is that AJ and Al Arabiya had it on their HEADLINE |
|
NEWS TV loop...I kinda doubt the 'terrists' are eschewing their local news sources and waiting for the New York Times or the WAPO to hit their stoop in order to figure out who they are holding....and my sense is that she would PREFER that people know who she is, rather than cover this shit up. Hell, if no one knows you are gone, no one cares, do they???? Then again, they could be using her as a tethered goat--keep it all on the QT, sneak in and get the bad guys, and hope she doesn't catch any stray fire.
Her reporting is, and has always been, fact and reality based--and was not terribly helpful to this misadministration. Any 'terrist' who stupidly offs that young gal is doing a favor for BushCo, IMO--she's told some uncomfortable truths, in a very matter-of-fact fashion. She's wise beyond her years, and I hope like hell she makes it out of there.

9. I would like to think they know they are doing for her sake but |
|
the secrecy seems a little suspicous. I don't remember other kidnappings being treated this way.
