Please post Alito's extremist/questionable positions here.
Seems it would be a good idea to list all the issues and concerns about Alito on a thread, so we can use them when we call/write our Senators.

Will you help?

Thanks.

1. Vanguard Funds
Alito broke his pledge to recuse himself from cases involving Vanguard funds, with which he had significant investments. Alito and Bush administration officials have offered at least three different excuses for his failure to keep his promise, including blaming a "computer glitch."

2. Claimed (lied?) did not "remember" being a member of Concerned Alumni
In his Senate questionnaire, Alito implausibly claimed not to remember having been a member of a group known as Concerned Alumni of Princeton, which advocated restrictions on the admission of racial minorities and women at Princeton while supporting "affirmative action" for athletes, legacies, and ultraconservative professors. But he had previously bragged in writing about his membership in the group, which was made infamous by press coverage of its hostility to diversity.

5. Stated "the Constitution does not protect a right to an Abortion"
Attempts to downplay Alito's belief that "the Constitution does not
protect a right to an abortion" have only put him in deeper trouble. Senators were shocked to find that he failed to submit any information about an important reproductive rights case on which he worked while at the Justice Department after they requested copies of "any briefs on which you worked." Shortly after they learned of this omission, a memo concerning this case was discovered in which Alito spelled out a calculated legal and political strategy for overturning Roe v. Wade.

6. Inability to find the illegality of torturing a suspect's child by
crushing his testicles with a boot. (Hypothetical case to which Alito replied that it was not against any treaty). If he could not immediately think of the convention against torture, then should he be on the court?

The fact that anyone who questioned precedents like these would be tapped for the SC in 2005 is mindboggling.

Even the White House and Cornyn had to hurriedly smother the fallout from that bombshell.
