Melman's version of WH involvement in phone jamming
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/

As White House political director during the 2002 election cycle, my staff and I regularly communicated with competitive Congressional campaigns and Republican Party organizations. One of the most competitive was the Senate race in New Hampshire and throughout the election season and Election Day, Alicia Davis, my deputy responsible for the Northeast, frequently communicated with the New Hampshire State Party, the RNC and others.
To be clear, none of my conversations nor the conversations of my staff, involved discussion of the phone-jamming incident. While I have profound policy disagreements with Chairman Dean, I have always tried to maintain what he and I discussed when we were first elected: keep it to the issues.

Good answer, no smart ass swipes-at or blaming Democrats...is someone scared?
Well well well, no smirking, sneering Melman...Just a flat out no...Like Marshall says, let's see if he sticks to this story.

1. So why was Mehlman a surprise at that
That is how he got to be the RNC Chairman, what an opportunist

2. Did anyone read the novel (or see the film) THE NAME OF THE ROSE?
Does Ken Mehlman remind anyone else of the character 'Salvatore' in that story?

In looks, I think there's a haunting similarity to the actor who played Salvatore in the film, and in ontent of speech, I think it's a dead hit.

3. That statement almost sounds polite and decent.
Very out of character for Melman.
He must be scared shitless!

4. you notice he says discussion of phone jamming incident
he doesn't say planning to use phone jamming techniques. Maybe they didn't actually discuss the
incident afterwards, but maybe they discussed it before the fact, isn't there something about
being an accessory before the fact?

5. He's taking the hit
but hanging his assistant out to dry. All day calls were made to one specific number in the WH. No one knows who that was, so it might as well be Mehlman's assistant, or him, on that phone -- instead of KKKarl or Susan Ralston. If they trace it back to him, it will be SOP, and they'll begin saying that "those few calls" weren't nothin' at all...

8. Ah Ken ..... one little point.
Tobin was given a raise and promotion after he was arrested and charged with the New Hampshire
phone jamming. But you didn't know what he was doing? Please

This is the tip of the iceberg ..... They jammed phone lines in Ohio in 04 too.
