Just listened to Melissa Doi and Kevin Cosgrove who were in the South tower.

I'm more than a little shaken.

Do not listen to them if you internalize stuff like that too much.

1. I know better. I'll never listen to them.
I don't see the benefit of releasing these, I really don't.

9. These were released at the behest of the families?
I disagree with that action. These should have been kept private.

If that's the case, I guess we can blame the death penalty for these being in public.

22. From what I heard, not all of the families wanted them released.
There are many other ways to remember them.

2. I can't listen.
I will never let go of it once I hear it, I end up taken these things in and owning them. Just reading the transcript made me cry. I have come to believe they didn't have to die.

18. Me either -- the sight (from non-US news) of the jumping people...
And the photos in foreign magazines of their broken bodies on the ground, stayed with me intensely for months... can't do it again.

3. how did you listen to them?
this might be freaky sounding, but i would like to hear it. Not trying to be morbid, but i feel like all the Sept 11 stuff has been kept from everyone like it was some big secret that can't get out. I don't know, just feels weird.

4. I'll PM you.
It's not freaky at all. I subject myself to almost everything I run accross in a misguided quest to get closer to reality. I pay for it though, and this is definitely one of those times.

12. i can't believe they put them on TV
the second one is the most frightening when the tower collapses, those poor people. The movies they are coming out with are just too soon. Whos idea was it to make a movie of these situations?

19. The families' -- and the director/writer is a good guy, just FYI
Made "Bloody Sunday."

I believe that if the families want both the tapes played and the movie made, then I won't find any fault with it. I won't listen to the tapes or see the movie, but I won't criticizes their actions. It's their right.

26. Don't Melissa and Kevin have any rights?
It's the most intensely private moment of their lives.

All reasons for releasing them asside (because some are less noble than others IMO) I truely think that it should never be done. It's like a snuf film. It should be out of the hands of the family.

27. We'll have to agree to disagree, because I think the family should
have the ultimate right... taking the memories of the last moments of their loved ones away from them is patronizing, and very against our ideals, imo. We ahve no right to take this from them! I don't agree with the analogy of a snuff film, because listening to the last words of these people getting ready to die isn't titillating or exciting in any way -- it's very somber and sad.

16. I listened to them...
I went looking for a link after I read your message. I read the transcripts and listened to the second call (the male), and I admit I don't easily get shaken by stuff like that, but I had a sort of weird feeling inside me when I listened to the last of it.

As for what parts they have played on TV, I've only been watching MSNBC off and on throughout the day, and they didn't seem to play the worst parts. In fact, the only one I heard was from the lady, and they cut it off around the part where she asks if she is going to die, and the operator says no, just say your prayers. It seems the call went on for much longer after that, though. I hadn't heard any of the caller from the male played on TV though, but I haven't been watching all the channels all day long.

17. I'm far more disturbed for some reason about this Flight 94
movie coming out than I am about hearing the chilling 9-1-1 tapes.

I think it's human nature to want to hear 9-1-1 tapes of any tragedy. Maybe I'm wrong.

But to make a movie about that plane crash when nobody on earth knows EXACTLY what happened is reckless and heartless if you ask me.

20. Too Bad Bush Allowed those Planes to Crash into the Twin Towers
I mean, how could anybody tell our airforce to stand down, or just not give the ok? How evil can a person be, just to have an excuse to attack and invade and occupy and rip off a sovereign nation?

They've not allowed beheadings of US citizens to be viewed by the public.

25. They're being played in court with family consent.
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 07:11 PM by Harper_is_Bush
I think part of the reason is for victim impact to secure a death penalty judgement.

I fear part of the reason is to stir emotions to generate support for whatever indiscriminate acts of War Bush has taken or will take.

I would hope my family would never put the private moment of my gut-wrenching and emotional death in the public domain, whatever the reason.

28. I feel really sorry for the families
but my take is that these tapes have been released to whip up 9/11 hysteria because Dumbya Inc. have nothing else to use to whip up the sheeple before November 2006.
