OMG I'm a Republican!!
We did an interesting exercise on Perceived Self in my Interpersonal Communications class yesterday. We were to make a list (1-25), write “I Am…” on the top and list 25 things that define us. It could be physical things such as blue eyes, brown hair, or it could be personality traits such as intelligence, quick sense of humor, or it could even be roles that we play such as mother, or even Democrat. We were then asked to take that list of 25 and place them in order of importance. Then my intructor asked us to start at number ten and work backwards to number one - slowly removing each item on our list. Each time we were asked how we felt: Was it good or were you angry? Who does this make you now that these items are gone? Well after my integrity, open mindedness, sense of fairness and sense of curiosity were gone, I realized… Oh My God, I’m so sad and dismal… Oh my god, I’m a Republican!!

1. Well, as long as you're still on our side...
Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln were both Republicans, too. I'd have a beer with either of them.

:toast:

9. Oh.. I'm still a Democrat - Don't worry.
I was just thinking as we did that exercise, "So this is what being a Republican feels like: No itellectual curiosity, extremely rigid, my way or the highway, everything black and white. In short: meaner, less interested, less open to new ideas. I'm not saying that Republicans have always been like this or will continue down this Neocon route... It's just that through the actions of these neocon/PNAC pricks that's how it seems to be.
