The disgusting hypocrisy of the Religious Right over immigration.
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 10:06 AM by gatorboy
I was listening to a few office worker right wingers the other day complaining about immigration. Well, that's not entirely true. They were really whining about Mexicans. Anyway, these two ladies, who watch O'Reilly religiously, were bitching about how many children Mexicans have. Normally, I let the right wing banter slide because there is no budging with these two, but one of them suggested the possibility of sterilizing Mexcians so they wouldn't have so many kids! Well that sent me through the roof.

I replied, "You two want to know why Mexicans have large families? Because they're devoted Catholics who have been taught by individuals like you that birth control is a sin! And now you think they should be sterilized?? Arrgh!"

I took my breather away from my desk but I gotta tell ya. I don't think a right wing conservative comment has pissed me off more than that one. War on Christians indeed!

1. The Know Nothing party is alive and well today as Christians
Sorry but I've spent years and years defending this religion using the old "well they aren't true Christians" and I'm tired of it I really am. This is their true face overall as far as I'm concerned, and for the info of those ignorant yahoos the true drain on the welfare system happens to be inbred rednecks from the south so if anything THEY outta be the ones who should be steralized IF WE WERE TO GO BY THEIR LOGIC.

2. The racism, xenophobia and homophobia is always near the surface...
with the Religious Right. (Correction: THe homophobia is on full display all the time) The KKK and Aryan Nation are essentially religious right groups, taken to an extreme.

Many immigrants have big families....
But their kids will probably have smaller ones. They may get better educations, so they will marry later. And they will want bigger houses with a room for each kid, more vacation time, etc.

No doubt the grandmas will lament that the younger generation has gone to Hell. It's the American way!

7. And the grandma's laments may be in Spanish
but the kids will speak English, and their kids won't understand what Grams is saying.

4. A perfect example of how some folks just don't think ....
before they open their big fat traps. I wonder what they would think of someone like me, who is not mexican or catholic, considering baby #3. Hell if it wasn't for finances, and levels of energy, I would be popping out 5 or 6! I wonder if they would see fit to rush me off to the clinic? Not likely.
Ignorance and hatred at its finest.

6. "Christians" would open abortion clinics on the border
and have some radical christian cleric find some justification for allowing abortion for illegals by reading entrails. They are pure, vile evil constitution hating bastards, domestic enemies of our country.

11. Would "christians" get divorced?
Would "christians" stone to death people who work on the sabbath? Would "christians" pick and choose in the bible the passages they need to enforce their beliefs and ignore those which they find inconvenient?

12. No
'Christians' wouldn't do any of those things. My point is that many who like to call themselves Christians really aren't. Followers of Christ would follow his example. There aren't many true Christians in this world, but there are some.

13. We are on the same wavelength
I put "christian" in quotes because those who are making the most noise like hating in the name of Jesus Christ will have a rude awakening when they go knocking on the Pearly Gates. I do have some intense difficulty with their flaunting biblical references to homosexuality while ignoring others like bibilical references to divorce. I would disagree with you about christians not getting divorced; they do every day.

16. I agree
When I said no the part about divorce was in my mind also, and to be Christian doesn't mean to be perfect. The key is love, caring, compassion, for ALL. Not many of us can pull that one off.

14. I'm a Methodist.
And I was raised to love your fellow neighbor. But I will admit, that I'm getting angry when I realize just how many arrogant bigots there are that trumpet their Christianity. The "War on Christianity" is a farce. A better title for these rightwing folks would be "War on White People".

10. yesterday I was astonished to hear that a nurse
an immigrant her self from Asia was making comments in the hospital about a newborn latino baby, the mother of the baby is a legal immigrant from Mexico but she does not speak english.
To make it short the nurse comment was: another illegal has born.

This is getting insane.

party was calling for all black welfare people to be 1.) sterilized 2.)after 2 kids they would be sterilized and 3.)if said women got preggy before being sterilized then mandatory abortions would be ordered. The only thing to stop them was Democratic politicians. Seems that they forgot to mention that fundies also believe that the next christ child will be born american and white, just like the first christ. ROFLMAO seems it depends on skin color if abortion and birth control matter to the RW fundies.
