2. Scare people? Such as? What is to be afraid of? |
|
"Freedom". The most beautiful word and too many everyehere don't understand the meanings within. (the final two topics "freedom fine" and "freedom of the city" were in the same definition list, so I kept them in.)
My source is this: The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48

3. Yes, a bunch of people are scared of true freedom. |
|
For all the lip service the words "liberty" and "freedom" get paid, there are many who don't understand it or aren't ready to have it. Despite what soldiers like to think, the real price of freedom is being free - no longer able to externalize responsibility for one's actions or blame others for hindering their progress. There are also those who don't fear their own freedom, but do fear allowing others the same freedom, as other people may choose to exert their freedom in a disagreeable way.
I think freedom and diversity are wonderful things. I'm just saying, this isn't necessarily shared by the majority except in conversation.

And I hear you totally. Especially with "this isn't necessarily shared by the majority except in conversation." :)
