Bush and the Trailers - Scotty Responds
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 11:42 AM by kpete
Bush publicly stated on May 29, 2003 that "We have found the weapons of mass destruction."

THE PRESIDENT: We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories. You remember when Colin Powell stood up in front of the world, and he said, Iraq has got laboratories, mobile labs to build biological weapons. They're illegal. They're against the United Nations resolutions, and we've so far discovered two. And we'll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them.

McClellan did not directly answer questions about whether Bush, when he made his statement, was aware that a team of experts had already concluded the trailers were not involved with WMD manufacturing.

"The White House is not an intelligence-gathering agency," McClellan said.

Today Scotty McClellan said that the President ignored the findings of the Pentagon released two days earlier (May 27) and chose instead to follow the May 28 DIA/CIA report that stated the trailers were part of a biological weapons program.

McClellan said information for public reports from the CIA comes from many sources and takes time to vet.

"It's not something that, they will tell you, turns on a dime," McClellan said.

If that's true, then what in the hell was the president doing publicly declaring "We have found the weapons of mass destruction" THE VERY NEXT DAY?

Despite having authoritative evidence that the biological laboratories claim was false, the administration continued to peddle the myth over the next four months. Below is a compilation of the administration’s false statements specifically in regards to the biological facilities from Powell, Wolfowitz, Rice, Bolton, Bush, Cheney:

3. And why did they classify the pentagon report?
But continue to site the fact that WMD labs had been found.

5. Dan Rather got canned for not waiting to fully vet a story.
The Republicans jumped all over him for that and caused his ouster.

But now, the Chimperor makes a glaringly false statement to back his war fable without waiting for it to be vetted at all, much less fully, and the Repugs are defending him? So, once again Bush shoots from the hip whenever it bolsters his story without waiting for all the facts.

How exactly does this help Bush's credibility, Scotty?????

8. "Mr. Tenet, I order you to say to me that these trailers were part
of a biological weapons program."

"But that would be a lie, sir."

"Mr. Tenet, I am your Commander-in-Chief. Obey my order immediately!"

"Yes sir, Mr. pResident. These trailers are part of a biological weapons program."

"Thank, you Mr. Tenet. That will be all".

And that is exactly how Bu*h can claim that he based his claims on false intelligence. The freakin'CIA knew damn well that the trailers were not part of a biological weapons program. They are not stupid.

But the fact remains, this is still a deliberate deception on Bu*h's part, no matter how you spin it.

Bu*h deliberately lied us into a war.
