I went to my first ever Democratic party meeting tonight.
It was great. I found out that some people who I have worked with on issues in the past year are Democrats. There was a speaker who talked about different local plans for making sure everyone has health insurance coverage. I met my state senator in person for the first time.

When I introduced myself I talked about the campaign I am working on - people came up to me afterwards with checks and asked how they could help and contribute.

It was nothing at all like what I imagined a political party meeting to be. :-) I don't really know why I never did this before.

3. It is kind of a buzz to realize there are like minded ...
people right in your own area. And that the "Real" Democrats are that progressive ... not like the positions most our standard bearers take.

4. Good to hear!
Be careful, those meetings can become a habit :)

It's a good idea to get involved with the local party. You get to meet so many of the candidates and elected officials, and it really can be a lot of fun.

5. The Dems are alive!
I knew if somebody poked 'em with a stick, they'd move.

6. People from Daily Kos are coming next month
to talk about reforming and rebuilding the Democratic party!

(Markos Moulitsas of DailyKos.com and Jerome Armstrong of MyDD.com)

Is that not totally cool?
