Personally, I think the world would be a much better place with far fewer folks, where the resources could be spread more equitably and those that are around could live at a higher standard. I also think that it would be much better with less religion, more reason and faith in logic and science, more tolerance and people who want to do the right thing simply because it makes the world a better place to live, NOT because they are afraid of supernatural punishment. The Europe this author describes sounds as if it is moving toward that.

How is that a bad thing?

That whole article, including the comment of "throwing out their moral code" was bullshit.

Europe hasn't thrown out their moral code at all - unless you're talking about control of other people's reproductive rights.

America will torture you if they think you're a terrorist, will accuse you of being a terrorist if you don't agree with them and think that you should legally be discriminated against in criminal law, jobs, insurance, housing and credit if you aren't married to someone of the opposite sex.

Human indecency and loss of civil rights follows religious fundamentalism everywhere you turn, throughout all of history. Populations adjust themselves to the available resources by one of two means: disease and war, or application of intellect and social awareness. Interfering with the latter implies that you MUST have children if you want to increase the population, and by "must" I mean are legally required to or else discouraged from not.
