Read my poem....*please*

Old News

The tired, the poor, the yearning masses
Have for centuries clamored to our shores
Their prosperity in the shadow of Lady Liberty
Have made us the envy of our neighbors

But envy has become disdain
In six short years we’ve lost sacred ground
The White House is occupied by the insane
And the Constitution and Bill of Rights are nowhere to be found

Guantanamo Bay houses Americans and world citizens
Tortured without being charged of crimes for years
The peoples' media has been sold to the highest bidders
Who now help incriminating information about officials disappear

Did you see the millions who have marched worldwide
To protest war and the death of our nation?
I’m sure you didn’t because a missing girl’s face
Or the newest reality show are the only thing aired on most TV stations

How does such a turnaround happen so fast?
What is causing our demise?
Greed and money, the root of all evil,
All covered up by a web of lies

Halliburton feeds our troops tainted water and rotten meat
No Child Left Behind cuts school funding nationwide
And hearing not a peep citizens are lulled to sleep
While issues like religion, gay marriage and immigration are planted to divide

They lecture on abortion while they send our kids to their deaths
They steal our Treasury blind in the name of war to increase their personal wealth
They left Americans to die in our streets in Katrina’s aftermath
How many more crimes can be committed before they incur our wrath?

Wake up! Pay attention! We are not in Kansas anymore
The Wizard behind the curtain is real and he is using fear
If it’s not Osama, then it’s Anthrax, Sharks or the Bird Flu
And don’t forget about Osama’s immortal man number 2

America America
God shed His grace on Thee
How can we expect to receive His merciful grace
When crimes are being committed worldwide by the Powers that be?

Get off your couch
Pick up a pen
Read a book
Talk to a friend

Write to a congressman
Learn about the people who are lying to you and me
Did you know, for instance, that NBC
Profits off the deaths of our soldiers because they are owned by a manufacturer of war goods, GE?

Don’t let these crooks steal the American dream
We are all in this together this goes beyond the political realm
This is about America's future and your childrens' future too
Use your voice, reach deep into your heart, America's legacy depends on you.

4. ha! good luck
I think half the people I send my political writing to think I'm absolutely nuts. And, they probably agree with most of what I say to. But, just go do your thing. If people get offended that's just their deal. They can stay blind. :)

13. "They lecture on abortion while they send our kids to their deaths"
Perfect line...that's the contradiction that realy angers me when I hear the please for
the unborn...how about the living.

We are the Right to Life party...all life!

14. we live in poetic times
Don't worry excessively,
the men will all die soon enough,
and whatever concerns, time shall see,
too many deaths too early, its tough.

And from etheric crypts, writers already dead,
we howl on to the internet, immortal fluff,
confederacy rejuvinated, slavery moves ahead,
the freedom's gone reversed, liberty rebuffed.

American lurid unfulfilling dream,
infinite freedom to choose cheap plastic stuff,
a lifetime to overcome the terrible meme,
work your tail off forever, then go sleep rough.
As your lifeforce drips out in to the TV set,
turn the putrid thing off, get a fun pet.

:-)
