PHOTO: The First Family holds a retirement bash for Sandra Day O'Connor

President George W. Bush and Laura Bush (R) welcome retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (2nd L) and her husband John J. O'Connor (2nd R) to the White House in Washington, April 12, 2006. The first family held a retirement dinner in honor of Justice O'Connor.

======

I hope Babs signed a big Bush family photo for her: "To Sandy Day, Thanks for everything! Barb & George" because THIS, Madame, is YOUR LEGACY. Bush v Gore and your vote is what millions of people and thousands of parents will remember you for. Enjoy the fruits of your vote and everything the past five years has brought us. I hope it was worth it to you."

1. Quite possibly
THE most catastrophic ruling on the US Supreme Court in modern times, and she
was one of the two "swing" votes that made it that way. Death, corruption, and
environmental deterioration, as well as our nation being feared instead of envied,
hated instead of respected.

She was wise to hold her retirement dinner within the confines of a very secure White House,
and in the company the man she helped put there.

The population of our country would not have accorded her such a fond reception.

2. I hope she got good money for that vote to select our president.
It cost our nation dearly. I hope she got something besides the ruin of this country and the lasting hatred of 100's of millions of people.

5. Didn't she just recently make a big noise about how democratic...
...institutions in this country are under threat, we are moving in a dangerous direction, etc. How can she admit that and then be all smiles and have no static dining with Bush? How can these people be so two-faced???

I guess they consider it "professionalism" and "cordiality" rather than "hackdom."

6. There were cocktails & fist-sized shrimp, darling, don't you know?
We can overlook these petty differences as long as the champagne is flowing. :eyes:
