If I hear one more democrat sympathize with Colin Powell...

I am so damn sick of some liberals/democrats who excuse Colin Powell's role in the run-up to the war by saying that Powell was being the only thing he knows how to be - a "good soldier". Last Friday, Randi Rhodes had Sidney Blumenthal on, who also repeated this line. Even Randi Rhodes sounds like she still has respect for him. If Powell had any integrity whatsoever, he would have resigned the day he learned that Bush and his goons were using false intelligence to get us into war. It's as if he gets some special dispensation because he was supposedly the most respected guy in the U.S. (I say supposedly). In my opinion he is responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of American soldiers, just like the other members of this criminal administration.

in Vietnam (Vietnamese sp?). I have no sympathy for Powell. He took up with war criminals and thieves and that makes him one as well.

He and she are both Oldenburgs (German Warmblood breed). She looks and moves like him. Her dam, Crestie, lives at the farm with her. I'll post a picture. I have to go to my Photobucket acccount to find one. I need to take new photos. She's 2 1/2 now and a real sweet pea! They are a very elegant breed. They were bred as a light carriage horse and riding horse in Northern Germany in the 1700s by a Count Oldenburg. They excell at dressage and show jumping and driving.

6. About Colin Powell and the My Lai massacre

Six months later, a young soldier of the 11th Light Infantry (The Butcher's Brigade) named Tom Glen wrote a letter accusing the Americal Division (and other entire units of the U.S. military, not just individuals) of routine brutality against Vietnamese civilians; the letter was detailed, its allegations horrifying, and its contents echoed complaints received from other soldiers. Colin Powell, then a young US Army Major, was charged with investigating the letter, which did not specifically reference My Lai (Glen had no knowledge of the events there). Powell wrote: "In direct refutation of this portrayal is the fact that relations between American soldiers and the Vietnamese people are excellent." - from wikipedia

That last quote makes me realize why Bush wanted Colin Powell on his team.

2. There is a book out; "Assassin's Gate" that goes into the details

of the whole Iraq situation. So far Powell comes out as someone who was shut out - almost completely. Nothing to be proud of. The decisions were not his. Bush was in a bubble.

Colin knew damn well what he was doing, he denounced attacking Iraq at first (showing he knew it was a mistake), but changed his mind, and stacked on the decisions he made during the Vietnam War, along with his signing off on the use of depleated uranium in the first Iraq conflict I think his credibility is shot. His future political career should be marred by scandal so that he never has power to do anymore harm to the US ever again. Too many thousands of people have died for his actions and it is time that he bows out of public life.
