Exxon Chairman Got Retirement Package Worth at Least $398 Million
Please, someone explain to me why we are paying so much for gas?

<<snip>>
Last year's high oil prices not only helped Exxon Mobil report $36 billion in profit — the most ever for any corporation — they also allowed Lee R. Raymond to retire in style as chairman of Exxon Mobil.

Mr. Raymond received a compensation package worth about $140 million last year, including cash, stock, options and a pension plan. He is also still entitled to stock, options and long-term compensation worth at least another $258 million, according to a proxy statement filed by Exxon with the Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday.

The total sum for Mr. Raymond's golden years comes to at least $398 million, among the richest compensation packages ever

2. Take note of this, folks who argue "there's not enough to go around"
in the immigration debate.

There's plenty to go around. It's just a matter of exhibiting the political will to get it spread around.

3. Even if the rest of us must starve...
men like this will have more than they can use. Getting them to let go of it now is going to be a mighty task. ;(

6. And at the same time...
In a high school in California, there are classrooms with 38 desks and 45 students. Saw that on Oprah yesterday.

4. What we need is a maximum wage
to go along with an improved minimum wage.

Screw these corporate parasites.

7. That's obscene.

There should be a cap on how much money someone should get for their services. What does anyone need with that kind of money? Consider also what he has earned from the past up to this point. No one is worth that much. Exxon would make a lot of badly needed PR points if they took that 400 Million and gave it to teachers and social workers.

8. I know what you mean.
I am a substitute teacher, my wife is a Therapist in the Cobb County School systems in Georgia. The Social Work program would benefit greatly from just a portion of that 400 Mil.

Also, on Oprah yesterday, she did a piece on the some high school in California and how there are 38 desks in some class that has 45 students. And, in East LA there hasn't been a school built in over 30 years.

So, after learning all of that info, plus the amount we are spending on gas, that salary is utterly ridiculous.
