A little sliver of hope, a reason for me to smile today |
|
We just came from an eight year period of repuke governorship, one frank keating, the worst 8 years in my memory of Oklahoma. We now have a democrat Governor, Brad Henry and thing are looking up for us, running a surplus this last fiscal year. With frank it was frank in the news everyday trying to shove something undesirable down our throats and giving ultimatums, contrasted with Brad Henry, hardly in the news, quietly going about the peoples business, holding our best interest at heart in all decisions. Reminds me of the Clinton years contrasted with the bush* years.

5. I keep thinking of the bit in Lynch's Dune |
|
"The sleeper has awakened!"
And it makes my back straighten and something unkillable and grand rise up inside me.
How I hope it's true. Riding giant sandworms to surround the WH would be better, but I'll cheerfully settle for voting the bastards out whenever and wherever we can.
Good on you and good on Oklahoma! :applause:

6. We elected Gov. Henry in spite of the fact the repuke machine was |
|
telling us the last several years that Steve Largent was going to be our next Gov. and we would be foolish to even field a candidate. We didn't listen and we came out on the top. Yes, thanks Democrat Oklahoman's for keeping the faith. Life is so much better now, state wise.

7. The wife and I are going to leave in a couple of hours, |
|
for a road trip through Oklahoma. We figured we had better go before gas got to 3 bucks a gal, but also we just wanted to get away for a few days and Oklahoma seemed like a good place to go.
Glad to hear you're happy with your new governor, now if we can get Chris Bell elected in Texas i'll be a happy camper.
