Circular Logic at its Best
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 01:10 PM by smartvoter
You shouldn't impeach a wartime president for launching a war on a false premise because you shouldn't undermine the commander-in-chief while he's at war.

In other words, you take the impeachability of THE MOST impeachable offense off the table because the result of the impeachable offense is unimpeachability.

I am certain that some of these people laugh themselves to sleep at night.

edit: small typo

5. High Crimes and Misdemenors
Misleading the American people doesn't fall under that heading, particularly when they can claim they didn't know they were misleading the American people (i.e. can you prove, in a court of law, that the didn't believe the bullshit they were spouting?).

They have committed some impeachable offenses in my mind (the Valerie Plame Scandal, the Warrentless Wiretapping scandal), but this is the hardest one to prove.

6. There are so many offenses, as you point out. But, yes, I think
it's a rather easy case to prove, from PNAC 1997 to what members of his security council have said about Iraq being on the table at the first meeting long before 9/11 to the Niger docs to the latest breaking right now that they knowingly lied about mobile weapons facilities. We all know the list around here, so I won't spell it all out. But, yes I believe you could prove this without much difficulty whatsoever.

It's the people who don't see it that I wonder about.

All this said, you are right that there certainly are issues with zero wiggle room...

7. I like this one, though it's less about bush:
The Bible is the word of God because it says so in the Bible.

I guess I need to destroy a few more brain cells before I can think like the masses.
