Are you listening to Bernie Ward? AT&T set up secret rooms
to spy on customer calls and internet usage. WITHOUT a court order, without notifying their customers, but just because the govt asked!!!!

Bernie said he's switching TOMORROW!

2. AT$T Spying for Bush !!
AT$T is becoming too big again, must be time to cut down the monopoly again. People should close or cancel their accounts with AT$T. They are spying on every customer and no justification for doing such actions. This is wrong and could be against the law, people should send them a strong signal soon. So, here's a question is the new AT$T, now the new CIA/FBI or KGB ?
Please think and act on this quickly, as this corporation needs to be hit hard in the place that will hurt it most, the money. They have to pay for all those mergers. Imagine if they lose thousands or a million customers, would they still be doing this.

6. I understand your sentiment, but
many small shareholders who's retirement depend on strong AT&T dividends will be destroyed....my Mother comes to mind.

It would be better to prosecute those responsible for permitting it. You think ?

7. I'm sorry for your Mother and all the retirees, but face it,
this is just another company kissing Shrub's a**!

Your Mom and all the other retirees and employees should contact their employer and SCREAM!

"What the hell are you doing?"

8. Unfortunately
she and 2 of my sisters have been retired for years, so there are no employers to scream to. The only thing they and many others have is their stock . They bought it over a long period of time and have come to depend on it to supplement their income.

Again, punishment should be reserved for those who violated their trust and that of AT&T's customers.

9. When they remonopolized I remember thinking it strange then
They once were what they are now, it didn't work and then their split was a fiasco to say the least. Now, they are back together. Antitrust laws were the reason that they broke up in the first place, but it's obvious that the Bush regime wants to disband antitrust laws so that corporations like AT & T and Disney and GE and do their bidding. It's criminal and it's SO obvious. People should be marching in the streets.

3. Wasn't ATT recently bought by SBC?
SBC is headquartered in San Antonio. Also the home of Clear Channel. What's happening here?

4. They can spy on more people
This is from the AT&T website:

In the face of dramatic changes to the competitive landscape triggered by the Telecommunications Act of 1996, SBC Communications Inc. embarked upon a series of acquisitions to establish itself as a global communications provider: Pacific Telesis Group (1997), Southern New England Telecommunications (1998) and Ameritech Corporation (1999).

That's not counting Cingular or Bellsouth.

5. Yes, and I guess if you have SBC as your local provider,
you only have one choice and that's internet phone companies. I have given that some very serious thought. One of them is a flat fee of $99. a month I think, and you get all the bells and whistles too.

Of course, that doesn't mean that your ISP isn't doing the same thing that AT&T is doing either, does it?
