All you need to know about today's "conservatives" - from their t-shirts
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 03:13 AM by Syrinx
They are admitting that they don't want to know the truth about anything.

And that they want to kill everyone with whom they disagree.

And that they celebrate violence generally.

And they endorse genocide. But, hey, it's just a joke.

And that they don't have a clue that Barry Goldwater would think know they are all a bunch of idiots.

My God, where has rationality gone in my beloved country?

1. Rationality??????
You got the wrong country. This one has been buggered by religion, brain-washed by right wing radio, and skull-fucked by economic regimentation for about 30 years now.

2. There can be no rationality where fundamentalism and nationalism
rule like an iron fist.

Their opinions are spoon-fed to them by their preachers and right-wing radio/tv talking heads. Conformity is praised and individuality derided. Dissenters are to be converted, silenced or killed. Critical thinking, science and logic are tossed aside in favor of rote memorization of factoids and talking points.

Your beloved country has been flushed down the toilet.

3. Look for rationality to make a surprising comeback in about 5 to 10 years
The "Cure" is called Economic Collapse, and it's what happens to any nation that decides to abhor rational thought in favor of religious fervor and smug, self-righteous reactionary politics.

And no, the Rapture won't save you.

4. I'm in favor of the Rapture if I don't have to go to hell :)
We'd be rid of the most dangerous, violent-minded imbeciles on earth. And I could gather up their empty clothes and have a gigantic yard-sale.

5. Loosen up a little
There are over the top shirts just about everywhere from every side...try tshirthell.com some time. If these shirts upset you, your knickers will be seriously twisted after you do. I found the diversity one quite amusing.

11. oh, I'm loose baby
The thing is, those slogans represent not some radical fringe element, but rather the mainstream of today's "conservative," Republican movement.

12. Loosen up? Why? I'ts friggin neocons wearing those things
and stomping around proudly with a variety of handguns pictured on their chests. They should all get their asses kicked. How's that for loosening up?

18. "the kind of thing you see at Klan and militia rallies"

"That shirt is the kind of thing you see at Klan and militia rallies. It isn't about political correctness either, because it implies the only kind of diveristy is a heavily armed one which is clearly anti-black in tenor and temperment."

8. I am a progressive and I count Goldwater as one of my political heros.
The man was a true political conservative, and able to question and recalibrate his own beliefs up to the end. He, like Eisenhower, is an example of a good republican.

13. I agree
What's that Goldwater said? Something like "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice." We need someone like that to step forward today.

I used to think that Ike was a do-nothing president. But his farewell address was profound. Sadly its warnings went unheeded, hence we are where we are. :(

16. Before you're tombstoned...let me quote Thomas Jefferson for you.
"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

Journalists are supposed to speak truth to power, no matter what other people think of their statements. We don't have enough folks doing that, and that's why we're in such a mess.

Now run back to freeperville.

Oh well.

Lots of gun owners are good Democrats. So are lots of Texans.

Do you really think you will change anyone's mind on your brief visit?

He was pro-choice
pro gays in the military
pro environment
pro small government
pro fiscal responsibility

every one of those things is anathema to today's Republicans & conservatives.
