Do you know people that still believe that CNN is credible? |
|
Months ago, I was discussing with my elderly father the blatant propaganda being spewed by CNN and he said it wasn't that bad. Subsequently, we have had many discussions about the overt and subtle ways CNN serves the BushCo regime. I was very happy the other day when he sent an email and said that he agreed with me. He had started to watch CNN with my accusations in mind. He said that after a few days of comparing what he thought was news and what CNN presented as news, he agreed with me. I told him to tell his friends and then have them tell their friends.
Frankly, I cannot understand why Americans are not protesting en masse against the tsunami of lies and blatant propaganda delivered by cable news stations. It is grotesque.

13. My kool-aid drinkin' father quit watching CNN about 4 years ago |
|
because he said "they got too liberal for me". Other than local news, he gets all his info from the Republican News Channel (RNC).

that leaves me totally speechless. I simply have to make myself refocus when I hear that comment because it throws my into total confusion for a moment or two.

Freepers refer to it as the Communist News Network. I guess it depends on perspective.

8. Consider the source on that one. |

They have some bizarre idea that as liberals we sit around with CNN running 24/7 hanging on their every word and our fax machines waiting for Michael Moore and Barbra Streisand to send us our marching orders.

21. Don't forget "Clinton News Network" |
|
an old high school buddy just looked over my shoulder and saw cnn.com on my laptop and referred to CNN in that way. He's a good guy even if his politics are a bit fucked up so I offered to show him counterpunch.org if he wanted to see something lefty. CNN and the Clintons. Two things a lot of Middle America thinks are liberal, but aren't.

18. I think Link is all that you have on Direct TV, Dish provides both |
|
Link and FSTV, FSTV is similar to Link TV, like they both show DNow but on the other hand they show a lot of different programs like the INN Report. This is good from a news diversification stand point especially since there is so many other un-credible news stations to pick from.

And of course the very few repukes I know think it's part of the "liberal" media.
There is a bumper sticker that reads: The media are only as liberal as the conservative businesses that own them. I remind my friends of that whenever they mention CNN. I also email lots of links to stories. You have to be exposed to other news sources, such as liberal sites like DU, or someone like yourself who exposes the bias, to see how badly skewed major network & cable news is. I didn't see it until I started visiting DU regularly. I also think people are reluctant to see how badly corrupt some of our fundamental institutions have become.

15. Of course. Many more people think it is either credible or too liberal |
|
than that think it is right wing.
The biggest problem is that it does look liberal, compared to Fox.

19. Amy Goodman has a DVD that exposes CNN's news delivery |
|
Amy Goodman has a DVD called Independent Media in a Time of War that contrasts the CNN news delivery in the US to the CNN news delivery in other countries. It is quite apparent, when you see the difference in the war coverage, that their news delivery in the U.S. is sanitized and supports the actions of the bush-boys.
I believe the DVD is relatively inexpensive (I got it free when I purchased 2 copies of her book at one of her speaking engagements) and can be purchased at www.democracynow.org. I've made many people watch it. It is quite the eye-opener.

22. I saw her speak on this at St Pete College in Florida back before |
|
the 2004 election. If the DVD is anything like her live presentation - I would highly recommend getting it, Bonus people that were there was Tom Robbins, Andy Borowitz, some comedian from the Iron Curtain area - man I wish I could remember his name and lastly there was some lady with dark hair very liberal and smart maybe her name was Stephanie.
I left that event so charged.
Thanks for bringing up the Amy CNN thing

20. I think of it like this... |
|
The left says that the cable news channels are all conservative and pander to Bush. The right says that cable news channels are liberal and slander Bush.
So I just read the BBC. www.news.bbc.co.uk

CNN isn't even close to fact based, as an example Chavez. CNN almost always refers to him as a dictator, but the fact is that he's faced more elections and votes of confidence over the last decade than any democratic leader in the world that I'm aware of, and with less controversy than some of ours. That's not quite a dictator.
I don't care if they like him or not, call him leftist or anything else of the sort, but outright fiction doesn't belong in the news. That's one example, and the news is full of them.
