Debate Revives as 9/11 Dust Is Called Fatal FATAL

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/14/nyregion/14dust.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

In the cold, clinical language of the autopsy report of a retired New York City detective that was released this week, there were words that thousands of New Yorkers have come to anticipate and to fear.

"It is felt with a reasonable degree of medical certainty that the cause of death in this case was directly related to the 9/11 incident," stated the report from the medical examiner's office in Ocean County, N.J.

That "reasonable degree of medical certainty" — coroner language for "as sure as I can be" — provides the first official link made by a medical expert between the hazardous air at ground zero after the trade center collapse and the death of someone who worked in the rescue effort.

The report has reopened old wounds, giving lawsuits brought by first responders and downtown residents new evidence to back up allegations that the toxic mixture of dust and fumes at ground zero was deadly.

who was it now that told america and NYC that the air was just fine? that woman who used to head EPA?

3. Asbestos-Containing Products Risk Reduction Act of 2002

Asbestos-Containing Products Risk Reduction Act of 2002

Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.

Legislative Summary

................

Over the years, asbestos has taken a staggering toll on our country. We have recently been reminded of the dangers posed by asbestos because of concerns about asbestos exposure from the dust and debris caused by the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers. Had this country acted swiftly to ban asbestos when public health evidence about its dangers first emerged, the Towers would not have been built with any asbestos at all. Now we’ll need to wait several decades to determine whether asbestos exposures in New York will cause asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma for first responders and residents

5. Which is a large part of the reason for Halliburton's no-bid contracts
MONEY.

Securities laws prior to Cheney's self-annointment made the CEO of any company PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE (those words are very important) for the loss in share value incurred by investors. PERSONALLY. It is compicated, and I don't pretend to be a Wall Street analyst. But the only way Cheney could be let off the hook is if he were able to bring the stock price back up to previous levels before the settlement came in, or something to the effect. IOW, the man would be totally and completely ruined financially, to the tune of billions of dollars in judgements PERSONALLY, unless he was able to re-inflate Halliburton's stock value after the Dresser aquisition.

Given this, and the fact that he is an evil, soul-less fuck in the first place, is it any surprise that he appointed himself VP and pushed his little chimp into starting a war for him?

6. When I saw the cloud.. I said.. ASBESTOS
I could have slapped Whitman when she came out and said it was safe..

The sad thing is that there was no way to avoid the exposure for most of the people who breathed it in, but to pretend it was NOT dangerous was criminal..
