Texas DU'ers - get to Crawford - the pro-war people are showing up
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 01:36 PM by Mabus
Just talked to Proud2Blib. She said the pro-war people are starting to gather near the Peace House. Okay, there's a woman across the street with an "I love George Bush" sign. She was there when the paddy wagon went by a few minutes ago. Proud asked me to get out the word. They are expecting more than 200 pro-war people. They need more people to show up at the Peace House.

Plenty of camping space available. There is plenty of food. And there is nightly entertainment.

If you can get to Crawford please go.

on edit: Proud will be back sometime Sunday. She'll post pictures then.

I've never been to Texas. Wouldn't it be a great way to start?

9. He CHANGED his PLANS!!!!
Washington D.C. (AHN) - President Bush gets his Easter weekend off to an early start. The president and first lady boarded Marine One at the White House on Thursday to begin the trip to Camp David, where they'll spend the holiday with family.

It's the first Easter during his presidency that the first family won't be at its Crawford ranch.

That may be because peace activist Cindy Sheehan and 50 other anti-war demonstrators have camped out in Crawford.

Before departing for Camp David, the president shared a final day with outgoing chief of staff Andy Card. The two emerged from the White House to pose for photographers before ducking back inside.

21. I'll ask Proud for a head count when I call her later tonight
She's a proud DU'er (no pun intended). I know one of her kids is with her. I'll ask her how many DU'ers are there when I call her later tonight. Right now I've got to go help the neighbors. We're doing the Mentos/Coke thing tonight with a bunch of kids. We've got about five adults and three times as many kids signed up to participate. Every parent has signed up to bring a different beverage. It is another in a series of our goofy neighborhood "projects". Afterward the experiments they are all coming over here for tofu dogs and root beer floats.

16. Just talked to proud2blib!
She said it was a 'planned' arrest, because the police, who were somewhat cooperative in the past, were not being real nice today. The group pitched tents at the original Camp Casey I site, and so they arrested them. She said there were a lot of new people, the only two names she had for sure of the 14 were DeeDee adn Jesse Dyen. Someone took a video and is sending it to MSNBC and CNN, so she said to watch and see if teither one shows it. She had another call and will get back to me later. BTW, Cindy was not one of the ones arrested.

19. She's burning up the phone lines
Here's my earlier post during my phone call with her: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=931961&mesg_id=932043 She called when I was out this morning and she talked to my husband. I called her back. It was that second phone call the prompted this thread.

42. I did!
We got back a couple of hours ago. She was one of the first people we met when we arrived at the Peace House. She liked my daughter's "Republicans for Voldemort" t-shirt. :-)

I wish I could have spent time chatting with her up at Camp Casey. Unfortunately, I spent most of the time chasing my 3yo son around.

It was a great day, but I'm exhausted!

44. Great!
I know she's shy and you probably had to look for her really hard :eyes: . Did you tell her where to get the t-shirt? I'm sure she asked.

There's always next time to chat her up. And if you're ever up north don't be afraid to contact the Kansas/Missouri groups via the respective state forums. We'd love to chat you up.

Fortunately, it's printed on the sleeve (www.goats.com), otherwise, I know I couldn't remember.

I'd love to hook up with you guys sometime. Are you in KC as well? I have a sister in STL, so I get up that way from time to time.

Do I know Proud? She's a t-shirt junkie.

I'm down the road from KC in Lawrence. Not far at all. Proud is usually behind organizing the DU meetups. Most of them are in KCK or KCMO. It is always a roadtrip I'm willing to make.

40. The arrests were arranged
They went back to the ditch where they first set up Camp Casey. They knew they would be arrested there. The rest of the Camp Casey members and the pro-War idiots were set up elsewhere where free speech is still (at least so far) tolerated.
