Who would replace Rumsfeld? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 05:54 PM by Postman
What if Bush does replace Rumsfeld?
First, the replacement would have to be a fellow neo-con-maniac because a sane appointment, one who would actually listen to the military brass (aka experts) would mean that the Bush/Cheney/PNAC policies have been a failure all along. And we all know how important it is for this administration to take responsibility for things- right?
So I think any replacement for Rumsfeld will only continue the misery because PNAC is not stopping with their failure in Iraq. They have more plans for destruction and death in the Middle East. They're just now starting to beat the war drum for Iran.
If Bush does replace Rumsfeld with another neo-con-nutcase, and the Generals continue to voice their displeasure to the media about defense matters in Iraq, they may look like crybabies in the public mind....The MSM will play it like - what do you people want? Bush replaced Rumsfeld and you're still bitching?

Agree with you, Postman, that the replacement would not improve overall circumstances that much. The war strategy is ill-begotten from the git-go and I'm not sure there's anybody on earth who could make it much better.
Bush's war, Bush's failure.

5. Hi there, BrklynLiberal. Good to see you again. |

Yes. The most insightful and skilled strategist there is couldn't make much sense out of Bush's Iraq mess.
This presidency is NOT in good shape.

It's the least we can do for all of the Death and Destruction. It would be WONDERFUL to have Rummy (and I DO mean rummy!) in front of the Senate and the House.

10. P.J. Crowley talked about this on Ed Schultz today |
|
He said that those who could actually fix this FUBAR Iraq situation lack the management skills for the job and those who have the management skills are woefully unprepared to do it. He said that it would be hard to find a replacement.
It was a really interesting interview. He also said that what these generals have done hasn't happened since the Korean War and that the chimp has no choice but to get rid of Rumsfeld. But he will wait until the heat decreases a bit so he maintains the appearance of being in control of things.

But I think they leave those kinds of decisions to PNAC crazies and just let George play with the coloring books after the Supreme Court fiasco.
