Poll question: Health insurance?
Just curious, after the Half of young US adults lack insurance story over in LBN.

I know we're not all young, nor all adult here. ;)

1. Not young, not adult, VA
I wouldn't have any otherwise, I always had insurance through my civilian employer, always. Right up until I lost my job at Dell when I got ill. I was supposed to be terminally ill and they couldn't show me the door fast enough.

2. But if I ever lost my job . . .
My health care would go pffft! Even selling my house I couldn't be unemployed for long and still pay for health coverage for my 4-person family.

3. Have Health Insurance but the deductible is higher and the
office visits are higher also... and oh by the way I paid more

totally sucks!!!
We need Universal Health for all... My dream is 260 million Americans walking in the streets for that one...

11. Ditto - high premium, high deductible, more outa pocket
Ironically I pay an employee's salary worth of premium yearly and can't afford to go to the doctor!

4. Other: health plan, inadequate coverage
for my chronic illness.

Sad to say that a double-digit chunk of my family's income goes to keeping me walking this mortal coil.

Single payer plans are business and people friendly. Pass it on.

10. Pretty good plan
Overall. Only complaint is copays go up every year and coverage seems to decrease. But I won't bitch because I know I'm lucky to have insurance.

12. Different for all of us
My husband is living in Florida and pays almost $400 a month for JUST him. Says the insurance SUCKS. My insurance at a Non Profit is beyond belief, but the wages SUCK. My older daughter is UNION and has great benefits. My younger dafter is in college and the medical through the college, again, sucks too.

13. Finally bought some last month, after nearly 3 years w/o after
being laid off. I'm an independent consultant now (lol! whatever that is) and decided to bite the bullet. $218 mo w/ a slightly higher deductible, but at least covered in the event of catastrophe.

14. Why isn't dental included in health insurance? :(
I have health insurance, but if something major happened to my teeth (I had a huge scare a few weeks back) I am fucked.

I don't understand it, I really don't.

I want to meet some asshole who doesn't think we need national healthcare in this country, just so I can glare disapprovingly at them. :grr:

16. It certainly should be.
I need dental coverage more than basic coverage at this moment, frankly. I have some serious issues going on. :(

18. A plan, but coverage lacking, but...
Let me explain. My wife and I are american indians, and we are both covered through IHS, Indian Health Services. They dont' cover everything, like fertility doctors, or things like that, but they do cover any type of injury and things that need fixing, for health reasons. But, IHS is lacking in coverage AREA. Meaning, you have to go to a IHS facility to get care, or a IHS facility that takes contract health. My wife and I are in SW Missouri, and for us to get care, we have to go to Claremore, Oklahoma, which is over a 2hr drive, or Jay clinc in Oklahoma, which is an hour away....Claremore has a full fledge hospital, Jay clinic is just a clinic.

We don't have any coverage in the state of Missouri, meaning, say, if i get hit with a stray bullet, and they throw me into St. Johns Hosptial my wife and I are stuck with the bill, becasue IHS doesn't have contract health with St. Johns. My wife and I can get coverage through her job, at WM, but we cannot afford the premiums for that, with the rising prices of gas, and other items...but we are glad that we have IHS, I just wish IHS was fully funded, and not shot itself in the foot...
