How does the death penalty for a wannabe suicide bomber make sense? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 07:20 PM by abernste
If what he says is true, Moussaoui was ready to give his life for what he believed was advancing his cause. Now, he will most likely be executed by the U.S. government and faces the prospect of becoming an even more well-known martyr than the people with whom he supposedly volunteered. Does this strike anyone else as a bit counterproductive?

...the 19th Century, when attempted suicide was a crime punishable by death.
The hunger for revenge knows no reason.

Nothing this administration does makes any sense anymore. Go figure!

6. That's what I've been thinking, a martyr for all Muslims........ |

....everywhere. Then they will feel truly justified in coming after us with everything they've got. OMFG, can idiot boy get any dumber??
on edit: If this guy is truly guilty of knowing and helping plan 9/11 then he should be kept alive in prison for the rest of his life. If it were me I wouldn't kill him but if he's guilty I'd make him wish we had.

9. Idiot boy isn't sitting on the jury |
|
The people who will decide his sentence, probably had their minds made up on the second day of this trial, and let's not forget the only family members that the media keeps showing are the ones that wnat him dead.
Last week I watched as a woman who lost her husband was so elated when the jury had decided he could face the death penalty, that for a moment I thought she was talking about a Redskins game!!!!
So, not to put a damper on your statement, it won't be idiot boy who votes for death, it will be a jury of made up of people who live in the area, and were up close and personal on 9/11.
And if they don't vote for the death penalty, I'll donate $50 to DU.

10. You've got a point there about the jury makeup but the idea of............ |

...his death uniting all Muslims against us will still apply. We think we've got problems now, just wait until Muslims around the world unite against us.:hide:

He seems to be positively begging to be put to death.
Personally, I am opposed to the death penalty in all cases anyway, but it strikes me as particularly peculiar to consider the death penalty for someone who actually WANTS to be made a martyr.
(great user name, btw :) )

the one guy prosecuted for 9/11, was in jail on 9/11. Bizarre. They have to fry somebody, and by his mental status he's a match. When did Texas justice move to New York?

13. Exactly.. His sentence should be LIFE-No parole |
|
and perhaps solitary...no tv...no radio...no Koran.....nothing.. and I hope he lives a LONG life..
or
perhaps the general population of a super-max (but that would probably be the same as "death"..)

|
Moussaoui wants to be a hero and a martyr. I hope they stick him in a dark cell somewhere and that he lives until everyone now alive has passed on. That way he can die forgotten and unimportant.
Moussaoui believes he's fighting the infidel, and that if we execute him he'll still get his virgins.

18. why would bush pardon moussaoui? |
|
that's what moussaoui thought would happen (he made the statement). why on earth would he think that?
could it be that he was working for the govt and thought that was part of the deal?
maybe he's just crazy, but on the chance that he knows something about mihop i want to keep him alive. felt the same way about mcveigh.

19. We want to give him what he wants - martyrdom |
|
even many of the 9-11 people don't think we should reward him with the death penalty
...maybe the jury will realize this...
