Name Just 1 Thing This President Has Done For You!!
Last week on CNN Lou Dobbs asked John Fund the exact same question and Mr Fundie answered."Tort Reform". I kid you not, Tort Reform are the exact words and I just laughed out loud.. How does Tort Reform help me? It doesn't, the fact the John Fundie could not name one thing proves my point...

I can't think of a single thing this President has done for me or mine, Can You????

What Dubya's done for me is remind me of how damaging it is to place power in the hands of someone who is not spiritually great.

like my pop survive on their stocks. I'm glad my pop went out thinking all would continue to be fine economically. Stupid didn't get his vote in 2004, though.

Tax cuts for the rich did nothing for us directly, but they did support the stock market, something that helped the WWII generation.

1) turned some long-term GOP friends/acquaintences off from the GOP - and towards independent and *gasp* democrats

2) given the numbers for bush and "Ditch Mitch" - perhaps will yet turn Indiana purple, if not fully Blue.

I would say those are both good things.

21. leftofthedial, you have lost much and therefor suffered much as you
have explained on these boards.

But you have not lost the intellect, the patient ability to cull diamonds from dust, and the nobility of personhood.

Most members of the Bush administration didn't even bring those gifts into office with them. It may even have been a prerequisite for signing on to the team.

You emerge with your dignity and significant attributes entact. The Bush administration, all-powerful and unquestioned for so long, is in shards.

68. You're not alone leftofthedial
Since January 2001 we've been ruined.

Wife lost job, was replaced by someone half her age at half her salary.
can't afford health insurance
retirement savings spent.
thousands in debt to credit cards
no raise for me in years
home business destroyed by monopolistic competitor

The 90s were good to us. With the Bush/Republican one-party state, we've gone from middle class and happy to poor and nervous.
The only plus is that we no longer participate in the system and are working daily towards "off the grid" independence.

Stay strong. They can take all the money for themselves, but they'll NEVER damage our spirit.

Edited on Sat Apr-15-06 10:45 AM by mrcheerful
use because its all smoke and mirrors. most of the plans they offered only covered a small part of the drugs I take, so I have to spend even more on prescripts so it cuts into my cost of living. He gave the oil companies a free ride to price gouge gas prices and allowed them to make record profits at my expense, then turned around and reduced their taxes by 15%. So I'm spending more on gas and heat then I do on food. He gave people on SS a 2% cost of living raise, though the cost of living raised 75% since the raise. Yep old Georgie boy, the kid dragon slayer has set up a system that enables the rich to get richer at the expense of everyone else. By the way he also made it popular to be christen, as long as you don't believe in the wussy christ of the main stream religions. Yep GW did alot of nothing for me or amerika.

Not just in the presidency either - his whole life is one screwed-up mess after another, with Georgie never taking responsibility, never being held accountable by anyone, ever. He is the most spoiled little brat I have ever known to hold public office. His very existence is an insult.

Then he took it all back with high gas prices, high college tuitions, interest on the debt and, possibly, ruining the country and world. He is not the worst president ever. The power he wields, the population, and the technology in existence gives him enough leverage to be the biggest fuck-up in human history.

So, all in all I'd say I've come out ahead in the past 5+ years.

Federalism yo! The rest of life's pieces fall in place quite well, as well as they can. That work?

63. Dobbs was great: "Maybe something a little more direct...
that seems like trickle down someday to me" or to that effect.

He's right on: the repug theory is that everythign that helps their special interest directly helps the country indirectly. Hey, fucks, how about helping ME directly and letting it trickle to YOU for a change?

74. Bush has done a lot for me.
I have changed, because of him, in the last 5 years. I was sort of politically aware in my 20's but it was when I was in my late teens I would participate in protests. I know I was only a teen but I did as much as I could to end apartheid by working with members of the ANC in Canada. I traveled to other provinces to participate and I even tried raising money.

I have voted and tried to keep up on the issues but kind of lost my way until I got a computer and found all of you. Bush inspired me to get out there again. I explained to my kids about Bush's policies on things and they got out there as well.

Bush has inspired me to be much more involved from donations to voting to protesting. If we had another Bill Clinton I am positive I would not be as educated about things as I am now. I trusted the government back then and if he were still there I would not need to be educated as we would undoubtedly have a great economy and maybe even national health care.

What's more, I sat in bed watching 'Rent' the other night and I cried because it is so wrong that we should make laws to keep people who love each other from marrying. Because of their real, not perceived, persecution I now want to give something to the gay community. All people deserve love and dignity and I am seriously thinking of trying to find an AIDS hospice in the area and volunteer my time.

Bush has allowed me to find compassion I never knew I had. He has inspired me to passionately teach my children their rights in this country. I am much more educated because with Bush I need to be.

To sum it up, Bush has just made me a better person all the way around. I am twice the person I was before he came into office.

75. Honestly, I cannot think of a thing Bush's policies have done for me
It's not because he's a republican, because I happen to disagree with several democrats on issues. However, in all my years, I've never known a president who's been so downright "useless." It's as if
he's not even there for us, the people of this country, but just there to benefit himself and all the corporations, and fat-cats.x( ;(

80. To be honest,
I HAVE saved a lot of money from reduced taxes. (Nearly $50,000 including 2005. I am in a 28%-33% tax bracket.) All of which went to helping to put my two childen thru Ivy League colleges. I recognize that I benefited at the expense of many poorer people. Still, I can't deny that I DID benefit as did many people in a 28% or higher tax bracket.

86. Brought me back to the Democratic party
I was a fairly cynical Green, mad as hell at Clinton for NAFTA/GATT, the "salvage rider," and telecom deregulation. I voted for Nader in 1996 and 2000.

In 2004, I was volunteering with the Kerry/Edwards campaign.

made me angry enough to get involved locally, vote, send editorials to the local paper, write my reps, discuss events with others, and join DU. Does it strike anyone else that there shouldn't to be a DU website? This site (IMO) is born out of frustrations of the failures and transgressions of the Bush Administration.

I admire the morbid attempt to shift the alliance of a democratic free
nation to india where a most favoured trading partner shares more values
than any chinese totalitarianism... but that before american totalitiarianism...
and then perhaps they deserve each other.
