minimum wage and the CEO of Exxon
Thinkprogress has a thread going on about Oprah doing something about minimum wage. Yesterday, there was a NYT article on the CEO of Exxon making $18,000 an hour. Some commentator in the Thinkprogress was saying consumers always pay in the end when minimum wage is raised. Who the fuck pays for the $18,000 an hour CEO? The Easter Bunny?
Ain't this a great country!!!

1. Put another way
the CEO makes enough to keep 1043 Mobil stations open 24 hours a day if they pay the clerks working the registers minimum wage.

4. Despicable
It's despicable how in this country we have more and more people who can't make it with the minimum wage that hasn't been raised since God knows when. Some states are more progressive than the Federal government, because they are not waiting on them to raise it, the states are doing it on their own, because they seem to care more about their citizens than the national government does. Then at the other spectrum you have Exxon/Mobile making RECORD profits, and now the CEO can buy 20 mansions instead of the 10 that just wouldn't quite do. THIS IS GEORGE BUSH'S AMERICA!!!! But I don't reserve my anger for him so much, because he has been like this since he was in Texas, it is the IDIOTS that are making average working class or middle class salaries that keep voting for fools like him into office. People who vote for them just want to ignore all the economic reasons too NOT vote for Republicans, while the lizards focus on abortion, gay marriage, stronger military, and all that crap during a campaign, then when it is all over, these same people get more money taken out of their pocket and given to the ultra rich, but I guess they don't mind. This has been a winning strategy for Republicans for the last decade and I am sure they will keep using it until people wise up.

Yes, Oprah did have a show letting viewers see first hand how hard it is to get basic needs meet, and live a decent life just by living off of minimum wage. It was one of her best shows in a long time. There are many people that should have seen that, because as they stated it IS a growing crisis in America. I wish they would get more political though in talking about the reason behind that, because it is ALWAYS a Dem. that wants to raise minimum wage and a Repug. fighting against it. We can't hurt the corporations and the small business owners ya know, but they don't mind hurting everyone else!!!!!!
