Is WHY the Rethugs wanted Tom Delay to give up his leadership post.

The Rethugs did not want The Hammer to give up his leadership post because of his ethical lapses and his corruption. They could care less about that.

They wanted him out of the picture, because he has become a political liability to them in this mid-term election year. They know he has become one of the faces to symbolize the "culture of corruption" in Republican led Washington.

With them, it's all about them retaining power. They could care less about Delay's criminal activities. With them, it's all about maintaining power, and if Delay is standing in the way of them maintaining power, then they want him out the picture.
