Rita The Voice said that one of the reasons they probably arrested the new suspect was so he could spill the beans on the other three.

6. They found a buyer for the Van der Valk Hotel

CURACAO – An American group headed by Barney Ivanovic bought the Van der Valk Hotel. Besides the building, Ivanovic, who was born in Yugoslavia in 1959, also took over the exploitation of the hotel. All the personnel (175) will keep their jobs.

Ivanovic is not a total stranger on the island. A few years ago, he and his local company Barniva Curaçao Development took over the luxurious apartment complex at Piscadera, the Royal Palm Resort. He confirmed the purchase of the Plaza Hotel last Monday before the Amigoe. He plans to invest a lot in the building and upgrade of the 250-room hotel to a higher level. The new owner said that an American chain will manage the hotel, but he couldn’t tell which chain yet, due to the final completion. The transaction and upgrading, including the restoration of the Waterfort-archs will cost approximately 45 million dollars. About 50 percent of this is for the purchase and the rest is for the restoration. One of the financers is the Girobank. In connection with the purchase, Ivanovic and his American partners Frank Buscemi from New York and Layne Rachowicz from Chicago established the NV Fort Shore.
