When this Regressive (BUSH) era is over... the MEDIA must be
held accountable... These whores should not be allowed to get away with their complicity. Somehow we must find a way to criminilize their current actions and hold them accountable for it.

In many ways they are more guilty than the admin!

1. one thing in a long list of things is to reinstate the equal time rule.
they should be FORCED to be fair/balanced with time. This onesided pundit freak show has got to go.

2. It would also be nice if the press would actually report on things happeni
I'm tired of the media deciding what is news and what isn't. I think the big play on pedophile priests molesting boys is a good case in point. Rarely, if ever, did you hear of pedophile priests molesting girls, though a study of matters shows that it did happen. And certain conservative elements have used this biased reporting to tell people that all gays are pedophiles! And I'm sick of the media only reporting what the most fanatical followers of Islam do, totally ignoring moderate and liberal Muslims and their efforts, which include fatwas condemning terror (signed by some 600 imams) and marches against terror by Muslims in Britain (which, I believe, numbered in the thousands).

These are two areas where the press shows its prejudice, and I'm sure there are many many more.

3. Break up the monopolies and bring back the fairness doctrine.
And re-introduce limits on how many broadcast stations can be owned by one company in a single market.

6. Yes. I agree. We definitely need to restore
media ownership rules...

But, I want to see some of these anchors, such as Hannity, Blitzer, Hume Britt, O'lielly..etc..etc ran out of this business alltogether. They s/b tarred and feathered!

4. From Day One
From Day One, the American Media has been led around by the nose by the Bush administration.
This from an intersting diary in Kos today: http://archive.salon.com/politics/feature/2001/05/23/vandals/print.html
Details the lies the Bush Administration told about the Clinton Staffers "vandalizing" the White Hosue whane they left. Turns out the whole story was coylty planted and maintained by the Bushies, they never proved a word of it, even when they were demanded to.
The media licked it up and ran with it even though there was never a substantiated charge nor even anyone who would go on record about it.
When the strory was proven bunk the MSM did no about face at all, other than, surprisingly, Fox News.
The last line says it all: "At least one White House reporter is less inclined to blame the Bush administration than turn the criticism inward. "We're often such willing co-conspirators," the reporter said. "They don't have to hatch anything."
And THATS the truth--all the WH has to do is hand their bullshit to their willing, often paid, media shills and its "fact"
The Bushies have been doing this since Day One--and rhe media buys it every time.
Its a different media from Clinton Days--now its a race to run from the story, not get the story

5. here is the sad turth imo
(since I lived thru the punishments (sarcasm) and rollbacks of watergate/nixon pardon etc)
We wont be happy when for the good of the country bushco is pardoned and life goes on as it is now. Media still whores, unapologetic and unseeing of their hand in this bushco killing of our country.
Republicans smearing and lying as usual etc. They wont roll back bushco rules and laws... they just wont, no matter what we want. We will be reviled still as the loony left (our own party doesnt like us even though we are now EVERYBODY).

We will still be in Iraq and prolly Iran.
Nothing much will change enough for us to ever be happy. The whores have won. THe pukes are a great oposition party and will gridlock everything.
Just my opinion.

8. 90% of the anchors are dumber than a bag of possums
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 10:09 AM by Atman
Listen to their chatter between segments, their banter. I'm firmly convinced that a large part of the job requirment for being one of the news readers is that you ONLY get your news from a teleprompter. On CNN, Smiles and Sosobad O'Brien talk about how much they love NASCAR and Paul Anka, and don't ever seem to have CLUE about what is going on in the real world. They are the people who ran the pep squads at your high school. Cheery, happy people who were always optimistic that we'd win the big game tonight. I'm not sure they can be held accountable. The actually seem to believe the shit they're reading, and believe me, they are only reading. Their entire morning shows are scripted down to the last ball-scratch.

The CEO and producers are the ones who should be dragged before the "Nurembush" trials. They're the ones fucking over their country for a buck.

10. If Wal Mart is shipping out benzene soda, do you bust the warehouse people
That's all these jerk-off's are. They're loading the shit onto the conveyor belt for their bosses. If it could be proven that they had ever owned a clue in their lives, sure, hang-em along with the CEOs. But they're just stock pickers in the teevee news warehouse.

But beware of criminalizing media content.

14. One of the BEST ways, aside from legislation/prosecution, is if brand
new, non-monopolized, non-oligopolized, media with integrity were to arise and compete successfully against the old crap media, making the media ho's obsolete.
