How long have you been a DEM?

How long were you a Pub?

How come you don't answer questions?

Are you riding the DEM WAVE?

You show signs of being a DINO...tell us that you are not, that you are a Progressive, able to analyze/solve for the Best Course of action for all Americans.

56. Bush is leading America to the poor house, ASAP!
They mean to bust any form of organized labor groups in this country and the rest of the world. They look at trade unions as being evil, the way they look at Iran and North Korea as evil. Anything that don't make them more wealthy, or powerful, or that stands in the way of their gaining more wealth and power is a threat to them. The super wealthy are paranoid to the point of insanity, or so it would seem.

They want it ALL and they want it NOW! Every drop of blood, out of every turnip and every turnip's son's ass for the Army. Every Gold Tooth! * Every wedding ring...EVERYTHING...They want it NOW! * For Fatherland Security!

How many more "INTOLERABLE ACTS" will the people stand for?

If you win and go on to be president, could you ever turn into an evil dictator, like you know who, did?
Do you want to rule the world like some politicians and petro-bankers do?
Would you repeal NAFTA?
Would you invade Iran, North Korea and China, simply because they're evil?
Did Gawd ask you, or tell you, to run for this office?
Would you be willing to take a lie detector test and submit to random drug testing, on your new job?
Do you believe that the Constitution of the United States of America, is "Quaint" and outdated?
Do you believe that Congress, is too good, for our Social Security program, or should their retirement be the same as yours or mine?
Would you vote to give yourself a raise as soon as the vote came up again?
Would the police ever need to frog march you, for anything that you can think of...
Why would you want this job?

I live in an area were the only elected Dems also run on the conservative line. They are never liberal enough for me, but they are always better then the GOP choices.

As a Nader voter, I often enjoy telling lockstep Dems that I would vote for Zell Miller in 2008, if he won the Democratic nomination.

64. WTH was he thinking?
That the Dems were a watered down version of the GOP, of course. That was what Zell Miller was thinking. In fact, that is what he has always thought. It was just that Bill Clinton's watered down GOP-isms were more palatable to Zell then Kerry's watered down GOP-ism, which, frankly, was as liberal and progressive as the Democrats have ever been on a national level.

I think that Zell's GOP convention speech was very similar to his Dem convention speech in 92.

If Zell Miller wins the Democratic nomination, he will be a better choice then who ever wins the GOP nomination.

50. OPI is correct. There are very few people I would choose to ignore
He has made it a point to flame my posts on this blog and does not deserve my attention. For the longest time I responded to his quixotic questions and he was never happy with the intellectual depth given my education. I think it is because he chose not to accept that sometimes the simplest answers are the best ones.

1. End the war in Iraq. Why? It is the right thing to do regardless of party.
2. End the wealth tax cuts and roll them back to pre-2001 levels. Why? Deficit.
3. Don't repeat history. Prioritize alternative energy to clean our environment
and improve our economy and revise our foreign policy.
4. Target special interests and those feeding from their trough because the majority of the public wants national health care and access to quality education.
5. Let's get over ourselves and declare a national equality identity, so we don't waste so much energy of wedge issues that divide like women rights, gay rights, immigrant rights.

I call this vision middle class common sense and these are bi-partisan issues.

And as OPI knows I disaffiliated in spirit the day Bush II bombed Iraq and ran as an Independent in 2004 against a 4-term GOP and am running as a Democrat, because although the party leadership has steered toward the right, I adhere to the principles of shared responsibility once adhered to in the 60's and 70's that many Green's now call their own. I have voted for the best candidate, not the party and believe leadership is lacking on both sides of the aisle. Those principles of protecting our Constitution and being socially progressive and fiscally responsible are my bona fides and I do not hide them at my website.

I had asked with great patience some very pertinate questions which you never answered..and if you did, it was with a flippant answer.

So how long have you been a card carrying DEM?

How is it you ran as an Independent in 04 but now you are a DEM Candidate...why the change?

Re Simple answers, yes sometime they suffice...However, in your case, I considered it rude and distractive..

I have not heard a single signal from you with respect to Progressiveness/Liberalism..its been all generic...where are your thoughts on reducing Poverty? Homelessness? Addressing the National DEBT? etc...

It seems all I get is Put Downs and Flippant non answers...

Show us some signs of being a good Senatorial Candidate.....

cause when you first came...you were asking for our Dem Platform/Philosophy...things a candidate is supposed to know even before announcing the hat in the ring thing....

Show us the signs of being ready for Prime Time....

answers to as well. I am in close physical proximity to this district, although not a resident of RI. I would be interested in hearing the answers to these questions as well. If I like what I hear, I could throw some time his way perhaps.

How about it Carl?

How about some positions statements and some issues discussed that mean something to you? Getting the seat is one thing ... what you will do with it needs to be clearly stated.

I love Carl's billboard ... now if he can just make me love the candidate behind it ...

I hate to say it but my antennae are starting to twitch.

Carl really, answering simple, direct questions from we the people ought to be just about your first priority and yet you seem to be ducking them. I didn't know you ran as an Independent in 2004 and if that is true I'd like to hear you explain why. Being a Democrat is a lot more than just slapping a 'D' after your name and gladhanding Progressives for support.

Don't get me wrong. If you are really "one of us" so to speak then you'll get my support. You really need tell us who you are though I think. Full disclosure, no ignoring of anyone, most especially not a tried and true DU veteran like Opi.

71. Fair enough.
Last evening I was introduced by Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) to speak to out state's party city and town chairs. I did not speak about myself. I talked about a fellow I met the day before by the name of John. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy with 16.5 years having joined at the age of 17. He was articulate and well spoken. He served in Honduras, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. He quit with only 3.5 years left to retirement. He suffers from PTSD.

It took the VA hospital 6 months to set an appointment to see him for therapy. During that wait he had attempted suicide twice and beat the crap out of his Navy nurse wife. His therapy sessions include mostly folks from the Vietnam era who have been carrying this mental illness for 35 years. He and they are unable to function and he has been unemployed for two years. This war is unique in that half of those serving are national guard and reserves with many who had families and businesses and other jobs so the disruption is enormous to them and their families. There have been about half a million troops who have rotated through Iraq and an estimated 20% are or will be diagnosed with PTSD. The VA is ill-equipped to handle this number because they are understaffed and underfunded by about 80% of what is needed. I have been a vocal and outspoken opponent to the war and have asked for the withdrawal of our troops immediately. As a Marine veteran during Desert storm I feel uniquely qualified to make this case.

The Iraq/Iran issue broadens as the president has made clear that there will be no exit during his administration and almost no outrage for making this public statement that almost assures a draft given we have four super bases in Iraq and ten under construction so we can use our military to protect Saudi and Exxon/Mobil interests while that company's CEO earns $165,000 an hour and a troop will bring down about one-fifth of that in a year. In one day the public spending an extra ten cents per gallon will collectively spend an extra $200 million a day or over $70 billion a year and I see no evidence of pursuing a robust three year alternative energy plan or emulating conservation like cities in Germany have done for almost 50 years. This is neceassry if we want to create a more environment friendly country and bring back a large investment in public transit.

What I do see his China and the US are in a race to gain access to as much petroleum as possible and China's economy will burn through as much petroleum in 15 years what it took the US 40 years to achieve. Tis begs the issue of battle for a natural resource when the American future is in the balance for issues that ought to be funded like single payer national health care and portable education accounts for our kids (I have five) and adults whose jobs are outsourced.

We can see China as our ally and partner with them and seek their building new factories here in the US not just our corporations building there. The US should lead the way in biotechnology advances to include stem cell research and treatments for our aging population.

What wasn't mentioned is I ran against a four-term Republican and as you will witness NONE of the issues I address above are partisan. Because the bottom line is if we don't start using middle class values that emphasize a balance of common sense and action, the thing I hold most dear besides my family, our Constitution, will be without meaning.

Philosophizing, proselytizing and blaming without a vision is nothing more than armchair quarterbacking. So if you vote in a primary, believe in a candidate, but offer no tangible support of time or money, then where does it place anyone other than spectating what will turn out to be bloodsport at the peril of those on the sidelines.

Have I made myself clearer?

69. Where do you stand on immigration reform?

In spite of the political non-posturing of the online blogosphere, it is THE make or break issue in the 06 elections.

72. Only if we let it. It doesn't even make the top 10 of the public's issues
Kennedy McCain. I support it. There's no practical way to deport 12 million people and the cost would be in the hundreds of billions. Clearly, we need stronger borders. What nobody addresses is we only allow a third of the professionals we use to let in before 9/11 who are scientists and physicians and highly educated and would make a contribution to our society.

Too easy to be caught up in the wedge issues my friend. Same goes for choice and marriage equality. Equality is protected under the way I read our Constitution.

78. "It doesn't even make the top 10 of the public's issues"
Uh...you might wanna rethink that.

In any case, politicians get "caught up" in wedge issues - and voters suffer because of it.

79. My point exactly. I won't turn my back on underrepresented
but my attention will always be those who are in the fray every day where their life is on the line. There are too many issues so we as the candidates should focus on those we feel most passionate about and not be sidelines by those that dilute the message.

My sreet cred is the anti-bush, anti-war candidate and it's what I want it to be.

67. All of the key national issues ought to be nonpartisan
Pull out of Iraq, end millionaire tax cuts, pursue alternative energy, create education accounts and K-College paths for those willing and able regardless of age, single payer national healthcare and make equality a national mandate in the spirit of our Constitution.

Way to Go !!!

This caught my eye though:

. . .I believe part of our surge in contributions was from our “BE PATRIOTIC IMPEACH BUSH” billboard erected along I-95 in February. We'll be replacing it in May. . .

Changing the Billboard? Perhaps reconsider? That billboard has become a trademark. Candidates campaignging on Impeachment are still in VERY low supply, and demand is Growing. (Low Supply + High Demand = Strong National Support).

What are you planning to change it to?

76. Your point is very well taken
During the first month after it was up strong support in communication and funds. Then it dropped considerably.

If we raised the funds we asked.... we could keep it up. They run $11k a month.

The new billboard will state Fund our Future Not Bushes War with controversial graphics.
