1. I haven't heard anything lately either, which means it was standard B.S.
We also don't hear about the alleged role of Syria in that Lebanese politician assassination.

These warhawks were ready to invade Syria a couple months ago. It has been postponed.

4. It was spun out of thin air, and vanished back into thin air
It never existed. Either that, or it was utter and complete bullshit.

I'd vote for the latter.

5. I think no one is talking for fear of revealing each other's positions.
If I came out and said I have detailed evidence they gave Saddam support during the initial invasion, at least two issues pop up:

1. I just tipped off the Russians that I saw their hand. The Russians will have a clue where the leak occurred, which could possibly endanger US informants.

2. I just revealed how I gathered information. This could mean in the future the Russians will adopt methods that are less easily compromised.

Of course, the Russians are going to deny having any hand in this at all, and even if they did admit it, there's not a damn thing the US can do to Russia. They're not a bunch of pushovers like an impoverished 3rd world country.

6. The Russians would not have burned an asset over Saddam.
This story smelt from day one. Blow a top level mole on a lost cause? I think not. It never was more than nothing.

7. it's insane to think Russia would risk blowing the cover of someone
who was inside the Command Post of the US military, simply to give Saddam a heads up on a lost cause.

Every week there are made up stories, and this is one of them.
