Bring back West Wing!
I love West Wing more than ever now that Matt Santos
is prez. Everybody is so much better now, and the plots
are fantastic.

I just can't get into Commander in Chief... I never get
past the first few minutes... it's way too smarmy family
oriented. I can't stand Polly Bergen, and the wussy
first-gentleman is awful.

I want more of Santos and politics, with some personal
stuff here and there...

Sue

2. Commander-In-Chief
is just not believably to me. I watched it for the first time last week and really didn't think it was all that special.

I think the prez and her hubby have zero chemistry.

4. Anybody who watches THE WEST WING in my opinion is ...
... a damned genius.

I could not agree with you more, ananda. A great show. Many of the scripts for that program were state-of-the-art television writing.

I'd love to see it continue for several more years.

8. Thanks. I'll accept the compliment.
:hi:

Sorry to see West Wing go. Besides the people on this board, I don't know anyone who has watched it as religiously as I have. My two favorites, West Wing and Six Feet Under had way too early deaths.

Commander in Chief is so soap opera. I watch it though.

10. I'm always afraid to say I like a program because in the next year or
so the network yanks it.

I feel like I'm responsible somehow for the WEST WING going off the air!

I agree with you on SIX FEET UNDER, too. Great writing.

16. I can't bear to see West Wing go...

I'm just so sad. I've watched it religiously ever since Mandy tried to run over Josh with her car. IT's a great show, has smarter dialog than any other show out there, and it will leave a void that NBC will struggle to replace (and yes, I realize they'll probably replace it with some stupid "reality" show - which will be to their detriment in my opinion). I can't get in to Commander in Chief - I'm just not buying Gina Davis as the President (I don't care is she s a member of MENSA). The West Wing gave us a world where every decision isn't painted as black & white /good verses evil. It gave us a glimpse of the life of a public servant - and I'm not just talking about the President, but his staff that works 20 hour days and takes almost no weekends. We get a glimpse into the stressful, highly demanding life that they lead... and it hearkened back to the day when Republicans were likable and valued integrity over how much money could be made off of a war.

I will miss this show... it gave us an alternate reality to strive for in the present.

5. The episode about
Mrs. Landingham's funeral, where Martin Sheen talks to god in the cathedral, is one that I think I could watch every day, and break down every time.

Genius.

6. My favorite episode was 'In the Shadow of Two Gunmen'
It was the two-hour opener for season two. While everyone waited at the hospital to see how Josh and the President were going to come out, a series of flashbacks showed how they all met.

It was a hell of a show!

7. My favorite was Sam explaining to Leo's daughter....
...(before he even KNOWS it is Leo's daughter) (paraphrasing)"I'm a nice guy who's having a bad day.Half the American people think this administration has lost direction,my best friend is about to be fired for going on TV and making sense, and as it turned out, last night I accidentally slept with a prostitute. So could you in the name of all that is Holy tell me which one is Leo's daughter???"When Mallory identifies herself as Leo's daughter,Sam is left to lament "Oh,well-this is bad on so MANY levels...." I love and will miss this great show and it's inspired writing...

18. I loved that episode too.

I loved the Episode where Sam gets his ass kicked on TV by Ainsley Hayes... that was her first episode - I also liked the episode after where she decides to go to work for the Bartlett Administration and tells her friends to fuck off for talking ill of them. John Laraquette and John Spenser were wonderful in those episodes.

The Episode I have a hard time watching is the one where Mark Harmon's character is killed off. I was so sad for CJ... I really wanted those two to get together.

13. Several I loved:
1. When Josh comes to terms with his PTSD after having been shot, and the music reminded him of the sirens.

2. When the Senator was filibustering and no one knew why a rider to a bill was so important to him, and Donna Moss figures out that his grandchild has autism and the rider was for funding research. (I'm sure I have technical stuff wrong on that.)

3. Toby's old coat is given to a homeless Vietnam veteran who died.

15. All West Wingnuts - order the script books if you want to truly
enjoy the genius of Sorkins's writing. Pure reading pleasure. Doesn't matter how many times you have seen an episode you still pick up subtle nuances from reading the script that often flies right by you in the quick fire dialog in the show.

Really gives you a true appreciation of the skill of the writing, the directors, actors and the entire crew. A pure labor of love from the entire bunch.

I don't want to see it end. I can't begin to tell you how sad I am watching the last few episodes. The West Wing is one of the few things that kept me sane during this whole cabal in the White House since 2001. The West Wing isn't just "must see TV" but should be required viewing for all people who think we are still living in a democracy under Chucklenuts and the Pretenders.

Not all scripts have been published but you can find a couple of volumes available at most major bookstores and online.

The West Wing Script Book Six Teleplays by Aaron Sorkin, Newmarket Press, 2002

and

The West Wing Season 3 & 4 The Shooting Scripts, Eight Teleplays by Aaron Sorkin, Newmarket Press, 2003

17. I love Commander in Cheif.
I didn't watch West Wing much. I'm glad that Santos won. How did they deal with the death of Leo?
