I just e-mailed Mel Martinez and Bill Nelson of Florida. I told Martinez to place the constitution over politics. I told Nelson to save our constitution.

All it took was a few key strokes. I suggest everybody do the same. Find your senators here.

1. You know, I have lockstep brownshirts here in NC
Burr and Dole.

I hate to waste bandwidth on them.

4. Same problem I have here in Oklahoma. None of my "representatives"
will even reply to my letters any more. All three (or all seven if you count the house-critters outside my district) are insane wingnut assholes.

6. I don't expect replies
But I do expect an aid to be reading them and passing on the information to the senator. If they get enough emails against Alito, they will take that into consideration. It is an election year after all.

2. Yes
I did Frist. Don't know if it'd mean anything but I did it anyways. I asked him how he'd like it if when he's being spied on or his kids etc and used examples such as that.

5. That's good
With Martinez, I played on his Cuban immigration experience, about how he fled a dictator in Cuba to find freedom in this country, which is why it is so important to place the constitution over politics.

11. I wrote Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden of Oregon
I am not a big Ron Wyden fan though he is a dem. I actually like Smith better though hes a Republican. He voted against ANWR drilling. He has Courage. I've never really seen Wyden do much of anything.

7. Several Rep's websites are "open" to non-constituent emails.
Many years ago when you tried to email Senators and Congresspersons from their "contact" links, your email would be rejected if you weren't in their zip code ranges. But lately I've noticed a big change in that. You'd be surprised how many emails will go through now, even if you aren't represented by that person.

9. And you can always put in a fake zip code
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 02:26 AM by RagingInMiami
Like I did when I sent scathing emails to Jean Schmidt. I would just put the same zip code listed for her office. It always went through.

10. I'm waiting.
Like Spector said today, we should wait, hear what the man has to say, then make up our minds.

I plan on waiting till I've heard the BS he'll be spewing, then I'll write my little note and fax it.

By then I'll have lots of detailed ammo, and I'll be outraged.

I write better when I'm outraged. :)

27. Same here!
I call upon you and your fellow Democrats to oppose Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court,

Leaving aside my many other concerns about Judge Alito, such as his position on Roe v. Wade, what worries me the most about him is his track record of seeing virtually no limits to Presidential power. In light of the recent bombshells about the Bush administration's warrentless eavesdropping, the LAST thing we need is a Supreme Court Justice who would give the Bush administration carte blanche to intrude on our civil liberties, bypass the law whenever they see fit, and impose an "imperial Presidency" beyond the reach of Congressional or judicial oversight.

This is a nomination that must be opposed, even to the point of a filibuster, should that be necessary. I call upon you to do the right thing.

Our other one is reactionary senator-for-life Grassley who is a continual embarassment.

Senator Schumer. Because he's on the judiciary committee. As the hearings progress I will write him again and include Senator Clinton on that letter.
