2. The book is good. I've only gotten through the first 50 pages since
I just got it a few days ago, but the guy makes a lot of sense. I also have a close friend who is psychologist, and I've talked to him about the deductions the writer made in this book, and he confirmed what I've read so far.

The writer is an MD specializing in Clinical Psychology, and I must admit, what he writes about Shrub and the base causes make sense.

9. That's great news. Is Lou really going to have her on as a
regular guest? I think she did very good when she was first on (some show) with that blond Pub idiot lady, but she did better the last 2 times whe was on with Lou. She's getting better with each appearance, and I hope Lou keeps inviting her back!

12. "Bush On The Couch" should be required reading for all!!
A great article/interview about the book: http://www.larouchepub.com/other/interviews/2006/3314justin_frank_html

Dr. Justin Frank, the author of this best seller, says emphatically that * is a very dangerous man & should be removed from office ASAP.

That * is filled w/ fears, and loves to kill and only drugs/booze help him relax/escape his anxieties etc.etc.

14. I don't think the device of psychoanalyzing people who have not been
your patient is a very ethical one.

Most people on DU, including me, decry people like Charles Krauthammer, a rabid neocon who is a psychiatrist by training and writes a lame column in the Washington Post, abusing his medical credentials to apply psychological labels to people on the left and in the Democratic Party.

I think the same applies when such tactics are used against those in the Bush administration. My opinion.

15. Naw, the History of George Bush is all over the place ...
I see no unethical practice. He's a public figure who's getting closer than any other President in history to bringing us to the BRINK of NUCLEAR WAR.

The man is nuts, we all know it ... but like the freaked out public, we're too afraid to call "the obvious" out into the public venue.

The Emperor has no clothes ---> Our President is INSANE - who will breech this issue that's on almost everyone's mind?

16. We just disagree... I think it's unethical to 'psychoanalyze' people that
you haven't interviewed personally, diagnose them, call them insane and what not. I think it's abuse of medical credentials.

We just disagree on this point.

17. OK, but the guy's a respected MD and PhD ... now I'm not saying
that POSITIVELY make him ethical, but if any of his colleagues had reservations, they have not voiced it.

I respect your point but the gloves are off with this INSANE Executive Branch. His book has been out for going on two years, it's not like any of these arrogant Leaders pay any attention to the medical field. Well unless they are in cahoots for the "torture methods." :P

18. You are wrong that no one has voiced opinion against this practice:
http://www.psych.org/psych_pract/ethics/medicalethics2001_42001.cfm
From the American Psychiatric Association:

The Principles of Medical Ethics

With Annotations Especially Applicable to Psychiatry

Section 7
...

3. On occasion psychiatrists are asked for an opinion about an individual who is in the light of public attention or who has disclosed information about himself/herself through public media. In such circumstances, a psychiatrist may share with the public his/her expertise about psychiatric issues in general. However, it is unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless he/she has conducted an examination and has been granted proper authorization for such a statement.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/story/0,13918,1244400,00.html

But the book has come under fire for mixing politics with analysis. A review in Salon.com, a liberal online magazine, described it as "far too partisan a work to make any claim to being a judicious examinationof Bush the man", although the book offered "some genuinely enlightening hypotheses".

A spokeswoman for the American Psychiatric Association (APA) pointed to its code, which states it is "unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless they have conducted an examination and been granted proper authorisation".
