1. They said on NPR that it was a "talking points" meeting...
...so that everyone had the same set of "talking points." I can't remember how they said they knew that, this was over an hour ago that they reported this.

5. He was meeting only with his mouthpieces
Rumsfeld didn't and wouldn't meet with the dissenting generals. No how, no way. Not the way this corrupt administration conducts itself.

6. Wow, things must be really desperate.
Rumsfailed has shifted into high gear. Not sure if he should be doing that at his age...

He's been defending himself constantly, putting out messages, showing up on TV, Bush has defended him. Where's Cheney?

I'd say he's on thin ice...

7. I'm guessing that he told them to STFU or wind up being recalled
to active duty to be sent to some shit-hole assignment until they repent. That, or he's figured out a way to make them stop talking or lose their retirement benefits.

I put nothing past the crew that holds power today, no matter how low, slimy, underhanded, or illegal those actions may be. If it suits them they'll do whatever it takes to make it happen, then throw some underlings to the wolves to take the heat.

Rumsfeld Shouldn't be Fired, He Should be Indicted
by Matthew Rothschild

“Secretary Rumsfeld has publicly admitted that . . . he ordered an Iraqi national held in Camp Cropper, a high security detention center in Iraq, to be kept off the prison’s rolls and not presented to the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the report noted. The Geneva Conventions require countries to grant the Red Cross access to all detainees. “

http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0418-24.htm

The Constitution of the USA. Recently it has been found out that even more detainees were "ghost detainees". The fact that Rumsfeld has not been charged speaks volumes. If Congress wishes to garner any respect they should move forward with Rep. Rangle's Impeachment Declaration of Rumsfeld.

The US, Govt., Congress, and the Justice Dept no longer abide by the Geneva Convention or the Constitution of the USA.
