Jack Cafferty talking about Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"
Question of the hour: should politicians like Al Gore be making movies?

huh?

no... politicians like Arnold should be making movies

right?

he did give a very positive review from Richard Cohen, though

4. yeah....but the question is inherently biased, it seems to me
why SHOULDN'T politicians "make movies?"

is a one minute piece of propaganda smear, ala the Swiftliar ads series, a movie?

what constitutes a movie, anyway?

what a stupid question to be posed

who SHOULD be 'allowed' to make movies? the Government Ministry of Information?

7. And actually, Gore didn't make the movie. Laurie David produced it and
Davis Guggenheim directed it. It's just about Al Gore's lectures.

26. No, I didn't see that one. She's a very interesting person — and very
influential in Hollywood, I hear.

23. Any tv station that would hire
bill bennett is working with less than the required brain power and would, indeed, feel it necessary to come up with a question of that low mentality.

2. Gore hasn't really been a "politician" for the past 6 years ...
He even refers to himself as a "recovering politician." He's been an ACTIVIST, yes, but he hasn't run for any office since 2000.

Truly one of the world's greatest craven whores. He's worthless. A true asskisser, par excellence.

and it was a very positive assessment of the movie

did you see the Editor and Publisher's column on Cohen? It as one of the best things I've read in awhile, and said exactly what you just did.

10. No, I didn't see it
Got a link?

I've had a thing going with Cohen for about 30 years, when he tried to undercut a case I was handling. He's a gutless wretch who really hates women. He hides it well, though.

here's the column

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/columns/pressingissues_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002275180

Richard Cohen, the longtime Washington Post columnist sometimes accused of being a “liberal,” produced a strong column today, titled “Bush Wanted War.” In it he said he had long been skeptical of this idea, but now had come to accept it. That’s all well and good, but where was Cohen a little more than three years ago, when this fact was as plain as the smirk on the president’s face, and the columnist agitated for war anyway?

If there was an “I’m sorry for being so stupid” embedded in Cohen’s column I didn’t spot it.

This is the man who, on Feb. 6, 2003, after Secretary of State Colin Powell’s deeply-flawed testimony in New York, wrote: “The evidence he presented to the United Nations -- some of it circumstantial, some of it absolutely bone-chilling in its detail -- had to prove to anyone that Iraq not only hasn't accounted for its weapons of mass destruction but without a doubt still retains them. Only a fool -- or possibly a Frenchman -- could conclude otherwise.”

Yet Cohen has the nerve to write today: “Colin Powell, you may recall, soiled his stellar reputation with a United Nations speech that is now just plain sad to read. Almost none of it is true.”

What about Cohen’s reputation?

this one is excellent, too, about the Post hiring chimpster as their right wing blogger

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/columns/pressingissues_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002236449

The Washington Post announced last night (play along with me here, folks) that President George W. Bush had agreed to replace Ben Domenech as the “Red America” blogger at the newspaper’s popular Web site. Bush contributed his first Web posting today, in which he thanked his old rival, Al Gore, for “inventing the internets.”

.............

The spokeman said the Post was confident the president had never plagiarized because “he hasn’t written anything himself since college”--but this time, unlike in the Domenech case, “we spent a few minutes googling just to make sure.” He added that the Post does not screen bloggers for “misleading statements or outright lies” in their past.

Asked how the president could blog and govern at the same time, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan explained, “He has promised to stay up late each night, until 10 p.m., to work on it—in his pajamas, as is customary for bloggers, we understand.”

................

Press Secretary McClellan said he was “fairly sure” that Bush, unlike Domenech, had never called Coretta Scott King a “communist” when she died since, “after all, he did attend her funeral,” but “you never know.”

24. Hey, when the going gets tough,
as John Mitchell said, "Guys like me end up in the slammer."

Well, no, that's not what he said, but, you know ............

Yeah, Cohen had a big go-round with the woman who was then married to Peter Jennings. Katie Marton, I think, her name is, and she went on to marry Richard Holbrooke.

Cohen has a number of sexual harassment charges made against him at the Post. I think that's why he was relocated to NY.

Thanks again for those articles. I don't have a subscription, so I'm always happy to see what E&P has to say.

6. It's a very good article:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/17/AR2006041701259.html

You cannot see this film and not think of George W. Bush, the man who beat Gore in 2000. The contrast is stark. Gore -- more at ease in the lecture hall than he ever was on the stump -- summons science to tell a harrowing story and offers science as the antidote. No feat of imagination could have Bush do something similar -- even the sentences are beyond him.

15. He's had some zingers lately and has tended to have
the same opinions as many DUers, but I think he just has his own opinions and isn't afraid to share. It would be nice if he judged after he saw the documentary.

22. He says some foul things about a lot of things.
I remember the way he talked about Nancy Pelosi once, saying something about how he was sick of her and couldn't stand seeing her face on TV. Really vile stuff.

Cafferty is basically a Lou Dobbs conservative, meaning that he's not partisan and knows Bush administration B.S. when he smells it (which is why liberals like him), yet is still an angry conservative (which is why he can still piss off DU'ers every now and then).
