Former Diebold Lobbyist Miller (D) Files for Senate Run
McLEAN, Va. - A leader in Virginia's technology community filed papers Monday to run as a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, seeking to unseat Republican incumbent George Allen in November.

Harris Miller, 54, resigned last week as president of Information Technology Association of America to become a full-time candidate.

He had served as president of the Arlington-based ITAA since 1995, when the Internet was still in its nascent stages. He declined to state his positions on specific issues, including Iraq, abortion and gun control.
....
Kevin Griffis, a spokesman for the Democratic Party of Virginia, said that "someone with Harris Miller's background would make an excellent candidate."

AP link

"We oppose the idea of a voter-verified paper trail." -- Harris Miller
....
As head of the ITAA, Miller specifically lobbied Congress against verified voting, on behalf of the interests of Diebold and other manufacturers of paperless e-voting machines -- members of ITAA.
....
I understand that Miller was representing the interests of Diebold, and some other members of the ITAA, but this is exactly why one doesn't generally run for office after being a lobbyist for two decades.

3. What about James Webb?
There's a movement to draft him as the Democratic nominee. What's with that?

4. Miller a Democrat?
Let me suggest this, perhaps he's not really a Democrat. Perhaps he's running as a Dem to cover all the bases, if he wins well then he can support E voting without paper trails. Of course if he doesn't win, then it's mute. Just a thought, I had my tin foil hat on this morning!

6. Anyone can SAY they are a Democrat.
There is nothing to stop it.

For example, we have a guy here who is running for sheriff as a Democrat. I know he is no Democrat. He wants to be sheriff, and the repukes already have a candidate. They don't want him. So he filed as a Democrat. I am involved in county politics, and I know he is not a Democrat. Besides, he won a mayoral race as a repuke in a nearby community a few years ago.

Is there a primary for this race? That should sort things out.

5. Well, now I'm conflicted...
Maybe we need another Democrat to challenge Miller in the primaries? Or has the filing deadline passed?

7. So, what happens if he is elected in a landslide and is NOT a DINO?
I would bet that, suddenly, there would be investigations into voter fraud and his ties to the "proprietary" programming . . .
