What’s going on with this, so called, American Service Economy
I’m concerned about out-sourcing jobs in America, under the guise that America is fast becoming a service economy and productivity is increasing daily. Is that true? I believe we are fast becoming a self-service economy.

We don’t have a person answering our phone calls - it’s a machine – that tells us” it will be x minutes until your call will be taken, in the order of calls received".

I received a post card requesting I read my home -gas meter- for the gas company, and return it to the Gas Company. Am I participating in America's out sourcing?

I have to pump my own gas, wash my own car window, check my cars oil, and check the tire pressure on my own car. I did that when I was a teenager for pocket money.

If I go to fast food restaurant I expected to clear my own table before leaving.

Lets get this straight, smaller government isn't a productive government. It simply isn't true: fewer people can only providing less service; not more.

I was at a US Post Office six windows only three employee's at three windows servicing the people by the number. People standing around holding their packages waiting their turn. It's the same at State Licenses Bureaus ... and the list goes on.
IS LESS GOVERNMENT MORE EFFICIENT GOVERNMENT? I think not.

Fewer troops in IRAQ sure send a strong message doesn't it. More has always been better in most cases.

Go figure!

2. I was thinking 21st century feudalism
a small elite controlling a large population of individuals who no longer possess the means to create their own wealth - willing to serve for the crumbs from the high table and the promise of a security that in the end, won't protect them.

I suppose the up side is that the serfs have fewer digestive problems, since they eat the whole-grain black breads instead of the fancy refined white stuff . . .

3. Read it put this way somewhere...
We will become a nation in which 1/2 of
1% control ALL of the money, and the rest
of us just sell cellphone plans to each
other!

4. In the ASE, your future can be summed up in six words...
..."Would you like fries with that?"
