Poll question: Does your state have a US Senate race in 06? |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-20-06 10:00 PM by usregimechange
If it does, can you give us an update on the race?
If not, please donate to my Senatorial candidate who MSNBC political analyst Lawrence O'Donnell recently said is "in a very strong position against an incumbent Republican." Most polls show her with a slim lead in this once trending red battleground state.

The nominating convention is less than a month away now. It seems that Lamont, the challenger, has some support among the state Democratic Town Committees, but I'm not sure how deep that support is yet.
But, it must be strong enough because Lieberman has twice been asked if he would run as an independent if he lost the primary, and he has not ruled it out.

Whoever wins the primary, Lieberman or Lamont, I will vote for them in the General Election. I want Harry Reid as the majority leader.

3. Marie Cantwell, But... |
|
...there is a cool Dem running against her in the primaries and I am voting for him first. I think he will lose, but he is far more progressive than she is.

4. Minnesota hasn't picked a candidate to replace Dayton yet. |
|
But we have to keep that seat on the Dem side. Possibilities: Amy Klobuchar, Ford Bell.

From Wikipedia:
Ford Bell - A philanthropist and veterinarian. Bell is the heir to the founder of General Mills and has staked out a populist and progressive platform. He is the only declared DFL candidate to call for the immediate withdraw of U.S. Troops from Iraq.
Amy Klobuchar - The Hennepin County Attorney. Of the three DFL candidates, she is the only one that has held public office. As of June 30, 2005 Klobuchar had more cash on hand than any other candidate, nearly $1,100,000. She has received public endorsements by 60 percent of the DFL legislators in Minnesota. Many consider her the favorite for the DFL endorsement process in May 2006 after her biggest DFL opponent -- Patty Wetterling -- dropped out in January 2006.
(There's also Angus Praugh - don't know anything about him.)

I'll be helping Bob Casey kick the crap out of Rick Santorum. I haven't seen polls recently. Last I heard, Casey was up by 11 pts. Still not enough to be comfortable considering...

$$ to Sherrod Brown. I don't have much $$ so I can't be real generous, and I have to pick very carefully where I'm going to be giving any money. I'd LOVE to see DeWine defeated!!!! It also looks like of the whole group I see so far, he needs the $$ most. There's lots of buck in Ct. They can handle Liberman on their own. The other race I'm very interested in is Pa. but Casey seems to be doing OK too!

39. Vote For Mike In The Primaries! |
|
as I mentioned above in the thread, this is what I will be doing. Perhaps Mike will at the very least make her be a little more progressive, especially if the primary is close. I can tell you from working with her in advocacy work, she is a Mercer Island product all right, and a little clueless about we "little folk". However, if you remember, she barely won the last time against Skeletor, so she is understandably cautious.
I have trouble forgiving her for her stance for the war myself, but I also think it is imperative the Dems take the senate. They cannot impeach like the House can, but they could do some serious damage to Bu$h and the Repigs if Dems are the majority and I think she would support the blood bath that would come from it. She has been a (not so fierce, but strong) ally for the poor, and this is surprising in some ways, given her wealthy background. But that is because I think Patty Murray was a help in cluing her in there.
My 2 cents
