3. i just filled up my SENTRA for $32.01 in central nj
we've got just about the cheapest gas in the country, thanks to the local ports and refineries. i went for the $2.91/gal 89 octane, but the regular 87 octane was "only" $2.71/gal.

I can find a way to avoid driving while I'm in school but when I go home and work for the summer, I need to commute because nobody will hire me for 1 month or so. Too bad buses in LA would mean I'd have to wake up at 4AM to go to work.

8. my area of Canada $1.09 per litre and I am soooo pissed off.
today I'm having "a moment"...
everything goes up and wages, what do wages do?????
You know the cost of living is OBSCENE.
I'm needing to rant right now.
How can people get ahead when every-time they turn around
more money, for basic necessities keep going up!!!!!
I know I know I know...we all know this stuff...but sorry
I'm just so mad right now I could spit on my own computer.
I'm driving ONLY when necessary. I don't mind that. I've always
done that. But my husband's and son's trips to work are eating
into their pay checks. Not too mention, the two other notices
I received in the mail - cable going up, hydro going up.

You know, this is so wrong.

Drop in gas prices first since May
July 10, 2000
Web posted at: 8:54 a.m. EDT (1254 GMT)

CHICAGO -- Gas prices dropped an average of 4.45 cents a gallon nationwide during the past two weeks, the first extended decline since prices began skyrocketing two months ago, an analyst said Sunday.

The weighted average price of gasoline was $1.67 on Friday, according to the Lundberg Survey of 10,000 stations....

...Downward trend may continue

A journalist who covers the petroleum industry predicted the national downward price trend will continue, with oil prices possibly returning to $18 a barrel by the end of November. The current market cost of a barrel of oil is about $30.

"It might actually happen before the summer is up, that you will see crude oil prices go down significantly," said Jan Stuart, editor of Petroleum Intelligence Weekly. "Then (it will take) another two or three months before the prices go down at the pump and you're probably talking at around Thanksgiving if you want to have a real point to look at."

Stuart said U.S. oil refiners who he said had failed to adequately supply consumers and low international oil supplies in general were the main reasons behind the rising price of gasoline.

37. 3.09 for regular unleaded here in Archie Bunker Land, Queens, New York
I took my Subaru in for service this afternoon at a place on Northern Blvd. Since it was an absolutely gorgeous day, I decided to walk around rather than wait in the repair place waiting room watching Jerry Springer. There are lots of car dealerships around there selling the typical land yachts. I stopped at the Toyota dealership to check out the new Prius. Got talking to the sales guy. He told me people are trading in the land yachts like he's never seen before and the new models aren't moving. Lots of interest in the hybrids and more fuel-efficient vehicles though. My husband and I are hanging on to our paid-for Subaru for now.

44. I never have quite understood the prices....
In California, the tankers and refineries are near the ports.... the further you get AWAY from refineries/ports, the cheaper the gas.

To some degree, I think Calif is high, because there are high state taxes on gas.... cross the border to Arizona, and prices drop considerably because tax is lower.

57. Do you know how much of that is Tax?
From what I heard, most of the price paid in the UK and EU is Tax.

Here in the US, Tax varies from State to State (my state of Georgia has one of the lowest total Tax on Gasoline (Petrol) is 7.5% plus an additional sales Tax of 4% to 7.5%).
