I know this may be a little lazy, but does Kerry support public financing? |
|
of elections that is?
(I am working on a project, but I saw the Daily Show and I now know that Ted Kennedy and Russ Feingold both support that. I think Dean does too.)

Yes Kerry is actually one of the biggest proponents of public financing. He and Paul Wellstone actually put together legislation for publicly funded elections. Sadly, his colleagues instead passed the McCain Fiengold Bill which did more to hurt Democrats than Repubs.

2. well, the McCain Feingold Bill passed in a Republican house |
|
the public financing has 0% chance of passing with the republicans in control
The McCain Feingold Bill is an improvement over what it used to be.

5. But did the McCain Feingold really change anything? |
|
Money seems to be more important now than in the past. To me it seems that Feingold McCain bill really accomplished two things:
1. It helped rehabilitated that slimy McCain from his dealings with the Keating Five, creating that lying myth that McCain is a maverick, honest, moderate politician.
2. It created loopholes that allowed Repubs to still bring tons of cash, while hurting Democratic fundraising. Lucky, individuals are picking up the slack for the Democratic party.
If the McCain Feingold Act really limited the impact of lobbyists and corporate interests I would be for it, but I don't think it did. The Kerry Wellstone Act would have.

I can't believe more people don't know about the Kerry-Wellstone act that would have publicly funded elections. It's a real shame.
