Bush Counsel May Be Next in Shake-Up
By ELISABETH BUMILLER and JIM RUTENBERG
Published: April 21, 2006

WASHINGTON, April 20 — Joshua B. Bolten, the new White House chief of staff, has raised the possibility of moving Harriet E. Miers from her job as President Bush's counsel as part of a continuing shake-up of the West Wing, an influential Republican with close ties to Mr. Bolten said Thursday.

The Republican, who was granted anonymity to talk openly about sensitive internal White House deliberations, said that Mr. Bolten had floated the idea among confidants, but that it was unclear whether he would follow through or if the move would be acceptable to Mr. Bush, who has a longtime personal bond with Ms. Miers.

"It's a reflection of Josh's thinking," the Republican said. "It's not a prediction that he's going to get it done."

On another front, Republicans said that Tony Snow, a commentator for Fox News and a former speechwriter for Mr. Bush's father, was in negotiations for the job of White House press secretary. Mr. Snow would replace Scott McClellan, who announced Wednesday that he was resigning.

4. It's called "Putting lipstick on a pig"
They got the idea while vacationing on the Pig Farm at Crawford. Does Josh Bolton report to * or to Shotgun Dick?

2. Snow was on O'Rielly's blab show down playing speculation.
It was creepy watching these partisan network cohorts prattle about one of their 'own' going to join Shrub's crew...seeing as how Fos hies people that are so 'balanced'.

16. Funny, since he is in NEGOTIATIONS for the job!!!!

It's not like this is coming from the other side of the aisle!!! Ach, it would be a DREAM COME TRUE!!! Tony will refuse to call on the "librul media" or he will get testy with them, and the revolt will be complete....remember when they built that bullshit "Media Center" in Qatar? The reporters stopped going to the briefings, because they were all complete and total horseshit. The only reason the underlings trapped there went at all is because the air conditioning was state-of-the-art, and they could call their colleagues elsewhere to advise them of the "no news" quality of the coalition news...

This is smelling so much like Watergate....!!!

18. No, it's GREAT--the gloves are off!!
It's not like we got any news from Scotty McFatfart anyway....it will just be a more BLATANT quality of stonewalling; that even the inattentive will be able to perceive. Ya think the major networks are gonna sit quietly? Even the cables will have their teeth bared...save Faux, anyway.

I head this article reported on the radio this AM, but the news guy also said there was much speculation about wether Shrub would LET them fire Harriett.

14. can't wait for Tony to discover the depth of sh*t he's meant to cover up
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 08:40 AM by librechik
it strikes me Tony is a "nice guy" who has kept himself clueless to support the cabal. Once he's an insider, he'll have to discover what weasels they truly are. Eat it, Tony. And remember you helped. Now go out there and smile and lie.

19. Tony used to work for the MONKEY DEDDY, he's "trusted" ya see
In 1991, Snow took a sabbatical from journalism to work in the White House for President George H. Bush. He first served as the deputy assistant to the president for communications and director of speechwriting, and later as deputy assistant to the president for media affairs.

21. *lol* ~ Jeff will be jealous. Tony Snow was on Freeperville last week
(he's been a member since 1998 according to his profile) talking about this. He mentioned, in response to one of the freeps that it wasn't nice the way 'they left Scotty hang out to dry'! Don't know what he meant by that ~ but it sounded like maybe Scottie didn't know he was going to be let go!

26. That IS the rumor du jour--that he found out "fer shure" about two days
before he sauntered out on the lawn with Monkey. But unless he had his head wedged firmly up his own ass (and maybe he did) he had to hear the distant drumbeats that sounded the call: "Dump, dump, dump, dump, DUMP--SCOTTY!"

A Faux news anchor as a spokesman for the "lie, cheat and steal" Boosh administration?

Why not? Couldn't be more appropriate.

25. Well then they'll just reinforce the bubble
When it bursts it will be that much harder, they're already turned a blind eye to the way the majority of Americans live. After all nine out of ten of us don't belong to the have and have mores, and the cadry of blowhard dyed in the wool koolaid drinking class is shrinking everyday.
They'll never see the punch coming, even though it will have been telegraphed.
